I too thoroughly enjoyed the day. Good fellowship with knowleable high school footbal fans.

Thanks Hamspear for the hospitality and giving us the opportunity to see football from your side of the state.

I wanted to take a second to express some observations of the game so here goes.

Aside from unbelievable punter I did not find Handley to a sound 4a team. They never quit, offered some unique offensive formations, but never were a threat to Sherando. There appears to be some tslent there just needs to be developed

Sherando, looked very sound and disciplined. They tackle extremely well and virtually shut down Handleys running game. I realize Handley has lost several quarterbacks; however, Sherandos pass defense was very good. I think they had at least 5 ints. Offensively, Sherando's line pushed Handley off the ball on every rush. Running lanes were a premium and several times Sherandos running backs went untouched for td's. Rivers is a force on both sides of the ball and their young quarterback has great touch on his passes.

Based on what I have read and heard from various post I went to the game being a bit skeptical about Sherando. I realize Handley's defficits, but my observations tell me this young Sherando team is getting better each week and if they can win out they just may make some noise come playoff time.

Thanks again guys. What a venue to watch a game.

It was a beautiful day for football. The Judges ran the unique offense because they didn't have enough offensive linemen from tackle to tackle. They also had 10 starters out and was on their 5th QB they've used this season. It seems like every week they lose two starters. The young Judges were excited for the football season but injuries have taken a toll on them and the coaches. I do believe if Sherando makes the playoffs they could be very dangerous. I forgot about you guys coming up or I would've introduced myself....BTW what did you think of the Handley campus and stadium?....Handley will be back just give it a couple years!!!!

Daboyz, the venue was wonderful. Perfect place to spend a Saturday. You can eat a early lunch and be at the game in no time. Was suprised by the lack of turnout by the homeside, but there was a lot going on in Winchester that day.

I saw glimpses of talent and the effort was there for Handley. Just way too much Sherando. I would love to have a punter like Handley's what a weapon.

DP went to the Late Model race in Martinsville. He is still on the road home. He seemed in good spirits during our drive back. I know he enjoyed himself. Been craving a Gyro and a coconut stout all day. Great meal, good football talk and a new respect for our friends from the Northwest.

Just got home. Drove 680 miles in the last two days. But, wouldn't change a thing. Even got to stop and visit with a good friend in Martinsville, (Magna Vista parent), for a few minutes. What a great weekend.

But now it's back to reality. My lead electrician called me a couple of hours ago and told me they had a major fire with structural collapse at an apartment complex in Richmond this evening. Apparently no injuries. We do the electrical work for the property management company that takes care of this property, as well as for the GC that provides restoration services. We will be extremely busy this week. So much for trying to be a slacker tomorrow.

I have missed not being able to read and enjoy our forum today. I will do a little catching up now, but this old man will not be conscious very long tonight.

I don't know if Navy pointed this out, but Sherando's kicker did a terrific job of putting the ball in the proverbial "coffin corner". It allowed their coverage team to pin Handley down in the shadow of their goal post numerous times.

Navy got his picture taken with Mark Mosley. Poor Mark, he was moving mighty slow. I hope he feels better soon. Who was the other former Redskin that you pointed out Hammy? He was walking across the parking lot.

Just a great weekend guys. Thanks to all that let me enjoy it with them.

Stella Artois
I thought so. You'll never believe this, but in my 42 years I could never stand the bitter taste of beer. I always heard it was an acquired taste. I have tried different things over the years and finally about 6 months ago I found Redds Apple Ale and Angry Orchard Ale at a Salem Red Sox game. For some reason after having several over the course of a month I thought I would try my beer search again. Apparently my taste finally came in for beer. My favorites by far to this point all seem to be imported. My favorite is Stella Artois! So besides our love of HS football we can also share a love for STELLA!!! (from "A Streetcar Named Desire")

I will say that Handley's punter has an amazing leg. That kid can kick a ball.
