Hamspear, What's this one looking like? Is this the game that will decide Sherando's playyoff hopes?

I don't think so , but to close to call to be losing it. I think if the Warriors lose , and they win out they have a chance to get in based upon some other teams games.

Kind of a tough situation, to get knocked out because I am pretty sure they would love to at least have a chance to show a team or two in the West what they got.

I've had the opportunity to see Sherando the last 2 games and they are really playing well. With that said, they have still only beaten one fair team (Jefferson) and 3 bad teams. They need a signature win and this would be a good one to get. I would think the region would have to take notice if they get this one.

I would agree with you totally. It will definitely be a tough game. Win or lose though this has been a important learning experience for a lot of players on this team.

The important note I wanted to make on your comment there, is that this is what can possibly happen if you schedule tough opponents. What's better? Going into the playoffs with battle scars and the kmowledge and experience gained from playing these teams. Or going into the playoffs running over OOD competition that is 2A and 3A cupcakes then getting demolished the first game in the playoffs because you havnt seen the competition like that? See, a lot of coaches just want to keep there job, so they get with the AD and convince them there will be a lot less stress around the campus if we just schedule a easy schedule and win a lot of games just to get in. It Sells tickets etc..... I myself prefer the philosophy of scheduling the best available in your reasonable area. I don't care about making the playoffs just to make it in. If this team is not ready to make a run, then so be it. If Sherando does not make the playoffs , won't break my heart because I will know that just because they didn't , doesn't mean you are not better than some teams that did. I think this team has potential to be really good the next couple of years if they learn real defense.

I agree with you 100%. Despite not having the big win - yet - this team has been very close with some of the best teams in three different states. With 18? starters back next year and the lessons of playing the very best people, this team will be a force. I would expect the results of their early season opponents to be reversed next year.

Sherando doesn't have a state championship level team this year, but if they win out I could see them beating a couple teams seeded higher than them. I don't think they need to beat Fort Hill to make the playoffs, but when the numbers come in I'd much rather be sitting at 7-3 than 6-4.

Fort Hill is a three-time defending state champion with a record of 47-1 in the past four seasons, and they're likely to win a fourth straight championship this year. They've outscored their opponents this year 377-44, and are averaging almost 54 points per game. That's a fantastic record all around, and pointing at what division they play in would be a disservice to everything they've accomplished.

That said, FH had their closest game of the year last week against a decent South Hagerstown (4-3) team, which they won 27-13. Sherando is a level above South Hagerstown, despite their records. I know that Handley was heavily depleted this past weekend, but I'd say that if both teams played the way they did against their last opponents that Sherando comes out of Cumberland with a win.

It's a winnable game for sure. I think if they can stay with FH or even win, neither Skyline nor Millbrook will come within one score of them. If FH has a running clock on Sherando in the second half as some have suggested, I will be immensely surprised.

I think they can make the playoffs and maybe win a game or two if they do, but even if they don't, watch out next year.

Has Sherando ever played at Fort Hill's place? That is one of the most imposing high school stadiums in the country to play at. Wouldn't be surprised if there were 10,000 people at the game.

No I haven't seen any. I saw someone posted a link where they'll have the replay of this game, so I plan on watching that.

In Cumberland, we are greatly looking forward to the game with Sherando Friday night. We enjoyed, very thoroughly, our visit to Sherando last year. The Roma Restaurant was spot on and close to the Stadium, the people of Sherando were very hospitable to we visiting fans who arrived very early for the game. The facilities were great, the drumbeat, the horse, and all that jazz really set the tone, and most importantly we were treated to a great game. It was a tale of two halfs, for sure. but a great experience nonetheless. I only hope that the trip to Fort Hill will be as memorable and enjoyable (minus the winning part) as our trip to Sherando was.

My experience was just the opposite. Met many passionate football fans who were friendly, polite, and well behaved. Enjoyed meeting them very much.
