1- That his lawyer was right on the money. He would have been sued and only giving up his source would work in the civil suit. Clamming up was his only option.
2 - Finebaum is exactly like "professional wrasslin". He has the same characters (Legend) (I-Man) (Tammy#1, Tammy #2) Jim from CResswood, all the others. He has the same grand entertainment value. He is the constant never ending battle between good and evil.

Don't you just love the excitement of Alabama Radio?

Edited to add:

Oh, and I'm sorry I forgot - Yes he is a POS.

Sheridan is an gutless *** based on what I just heard on the show. I know who the bag man is. Someone pay me money through advertisements and I will get the name in two weeks. Too bad I will not say who it is.

Just give the info to Yahoo and let them do their job.

Every investigative reporter in America faces the threat of a libel suit. They report the news anyway because as his "fancy" lawyer stated, the truth is an absolute defense. And yes, IF he is sued--something that rarely (ever?) occurs when the reporting is factual, he may be compelled to give up his sources. But he also gets to depose the plaintiff and has the power of subpoena. And, if he still holds back because he's "protecting" his source's livelihood, well, in all likelihood, the truth of the matter asserted will have been established long before he ever has to sit for a deposition--that would not occur within 6 months in a fast paced case. With a "fancy" lawyer he could delay the day of reckoning well over a year.

He keeps talking about these NCAA officials being fired on the spot and losing their livelihood if he divulges.

What about the poor sap's that take his wagering advice and loses it all, and in some cases, their life. Does he give a **** about that?

He's a complete POS.

Paul just said, he was not sure if they have anyone left in Indianapolis, they are heading to South Beach (to investigate the bag man thing at Auburn). How about we hold up on Miami, who hasn't been relevant for years now, and focus on the national champion Auburn.

Who cares about Miami this week? They can wait a moment for the AX.

he is milking this thing for all it's worth and will continue to string SEC fans along for as long as they allow him to. Business is booming.

What is the next thing he will trick everyone into listening with? I'm sure it was just logistical reasons is why the announcement was late in the show and not the leadoff story. I'm sure it wasn't to string along any suckers to listen to the whole show.

But I'm sure the next person that says he has big news will bring everyone over to listen and then close the show leaving everyone disappointed again. Get it through your heads people, Finebaum isn't going to break **** before the Internet does.

I believe his direct quote was "Give me two or three weeks and I'll have a name. I might not say it on air, butI will have a name." People wanted to hear the name so bad thatthey are acting like he said that he was going to say it on air.

Why is it so ridiculous to think that he actually has a friend with the NCAA who told him the name? Why is so ridiculous to think that he doesn't want to put his source/friend's job at risk?

I think Finebaum is a ***** that doesn't know near as much about sports as his callers think, but he is well connected and he seems to know "who at least one of Danny's sources are" and believes that he has a name. No one has said that it's a fact that this person paid Cecil...just that the NCAA is looking into these individuals. Why is that so crazy, making Danny such a big liar?</p>

But someone here said it was supposed to be announced at 3:00.<div>
</div><div>What the point is that he brings these folks on.. Moore... Sheridan... etc and promises these breaking stories that get's people talking. In the case of Sheridan.. got people talking two weeks ahead of time. Then a crop of suckers listens to the alabama rednecks bicker back and forth for three hours until predictable disappointment sets in. Finebaum get's a fat check from his sponsors and the world keeps turning.</div><div>
