Honestly Bonds did start to get walked. Has the coaching world just gone pure dubmass? Ohtani gets hittable pitches all game long then Lebby can't burn a few extra seconds per snap to hopefully keep a big lead, and all the coaching firings going on mid season in football.

Bottom of the 9th. They walked him. Ohtani tried to steal and got thrown out at second.

ETA: I don’t know what Fox is paying John Smoltz, but the guy is so damn knowledgeable about pitching that I feel like he should be on a coaching staff somewhere.

Jays keep giving them free outs being so aggressive
The Dodgers gave them a few earlier in the game. I love Freddie Freeman, but I never feel confident when they send him for extra bases.

Shohei Ohtani is the first player in Major League Baseball history to safely reach base 7 times in a postseason game:
2 HR
2 Doubles
3 Walks (Intentional)

And the game isn’t over yet.

Man, hope you don’t have to work today. I turned it off just after 11pm, and seems like it was somewhere in 11th inning

I’m impressed you stayed up for that.
Dodgers fan since ‘88!
Plus my son stayed up with me, so it was good bonding time.

Me being a geezer I turned it off after the 9th. I need my beauty sleep. I figured it could go another 3-4 innings. Wow….what a game. If I’m the manager of the Jays….I’m walking Ohtani from here on out.

Oh yeah, I kept thinking “this is the inning”, but both teams kept finding ways not to score. Also, what looked like sure homeruns kept dying in the outfield. Smoltz said it was the late night temperature drop.

Both bullpens were emptied. If Klein hadn’t finished the game, the Dodgers were bringing Yamamoto in (after he pitched a complete game on Saturday).

Clayton Kershaw is about to pitch, probably his last pitch ever.
Meant to give more context to this, but it was late and I was tired.

Kershaw came in with the bases loaded and two outs, faced one batter, loaded the count on 9 pitches, and forced a ground out to second. If that was his last outing, getting your team out of a jam in extra innings in a World Series win in front of your home crowd isn’t a bad way to go out.

he stumbled about 1/3 of the way to second and still forced a review on the tag lol
