Holy 17ing ****.
He's won at UAB, playing in a **** league. Look at his tenure at Indiana (after Knight's players were gone). Disaster. He managed to f*ck up INDIANA. Well done. Imagine the carnage he'd leave at State.
Here are his last 4 years at IU, the first of which was after the appearance in the Championship game with Knight's players.
21-13 (8-8), lost in NCAA 2nd Round
14-15 (7-9)
15-15, (10-6) lost in NIT first round.
19-12, (9-7), lost in NCAA 2nd Round.
How is that an improvement over Stansbury? And he had IU's tradition and resources, and was coming off a NCAA Final Game appearance. Stansbury beats the **** out of that record, no matter what 4-year period you look at.
I was pissed beyond belief yesterday, but all this ridiculous talk about firing Stansbury is assinine. I don't care how ****** the SEC is in basketball (and this year it is a lot better than last year), men's basketball is the ONLY sport on campus - the only one, even including the minor ones - that we are even competitive in right now. Since the football division title in 1998, we have one a grand total of ONE division title in ANY sport outside of men's basketball - 2001 women's soccer. That's TWELVE years, folks. Every sport on campus is an absolute abortion right now. Football might be on the rise, but we are still a couple of years away from being considered as a threat to do anything except invade Shreveport during the holidays. Women's basketball has been pretty good, ok I'll grant that. Soccer, softball, volleyball, now even tennis - completely uncompetitive in the SEC. Baseball? A horror show. We are going to get ***-raped in the SEC this year.
I don't know what the answer is, but firing Stansbury now would look downright foolish in about 3-4 years.
