Yeah he had a unique style for basketball, but sometimes we cling to things just because it's tradition and this isn't a tradition that's necessary to hang onto. When you can't make it and have to watch the games on TV and you hear the nasally or cracking voice in the background, that's when it becomes clear that you've got to improve the atmosphere.

waned and wondered and he ended up sounding like Elmer Fudd half the time. other times his voice cracked like he was going through puberty.

I liked his pre-game if/when he did it and his halftime recognitions delivery. Football in-game, mheh... Answer this...if he hadn't been doing it for decades, would you still like him for football?

he had excitement when JJ Johnson ran the ball. For some reason, mid-season 98 he stopped saying it with authority. I never understood why.

he would mumble "for three" in basketball after he yelled out the player's name. Really strange.

Like him, hate him, indifferent, its just not going to be the same. Im so used to that sound.

is listening to it ring throughout an empty stadium from my tailgate as he has to call the final quarter of a blowout in football.

Will never forget the midnight madness year of the final four team, thanks to Hank Flick. I can still hear soooooooper D Darryl Wilson. I hate to see him go. I can understand the lack of enthusiasm and monotonous voice during football games, but I always got chill bumps at the Hump. Will he still be teaching? I never took his class but always heard good things.

I liked the little Spanish twist he put on Antonio Jackson's name, like he was talking about Antonio Banderas or something.

I know AJ appreciated that.

Once we got rid of Flick, we HAD to replace him with another announcer. Couldn't just have silence in between football plays or not have the basketball team introduced.

:)

Agree.

Will miss the football announcing, because it was so easy to parody at tailgates. Joke stuff.

"Pass intended for ________.
No gain on the play."

Thought he was OK, even good for basketball. Thanks, Doc Flick.

RCD, I have no idea why my id says that. I don't type the ".theducksnetwork" part when I log in, just "MedDawg". I guess I got the login from an Oregon ezboard site back when we played them and yuku puts it in there when I post. I've been reading this board for a few weeks now and wanted to start posting, but when I tried to register a new id, I got error messages and also a screen that said "yuku is undergoing maintenance". So I took a shot to see if MedDawg would work, and it did. Sort of, with the weird ducksnetwork tag. Med P.S. I was going to pick Optimus Prime 4 as my new id, but that was already taken.
