are you sure that’s the reason twitter is now “ruined”

has nothing to do with it no longer being controlled by the dem party?
Twitter was undeniably better when it wasn't full of bots, porn, and people buying blue check marks to fake a sense of legitimacy.

If you want to credit the "Dem Party" for that, be my guest.

Yeah, I know you want the death penalty for going 5 miles over the speed limit.

You realize you can tell a person that their action was bad and they can correct it. People make bad decisions all the time. The kid didn't show happiness that the bat hit the ump. You act as if he saw it and ran over to the ump pounding his chest and celebrating that he skulled the ump. You act as if you know he is a serial bat tosser and has put people in danger before.

As I said your scary. How can you possibly have an opinion with so little evidence and willing to ruin a persons life for an accident?

And I guarantee no one on this board wants to hear anymore from you on this topic.
Totally agree. I'll add that the ump needed to keep an eye on the bat since the batter didn't drop it. He also needs to keep his mask on until ALL is clear. Looks like both made a mistake and all should be forgiven. I hope the ump is OK. Head injuries are tough.

Who said "bad behavior good"? That is so wrong it's funny.

This baseball player while playing a game, hit a missile then threw his bat towards his own dugout and accidentally hit an umpire who had - unusually, I might add - walked up the line. I say unusually because... have you ever seen this type of incident happen before? Me either. It's an unfortunate accident, but an accident just the same. I didn't say the kid should not be punished. Kick him out, suspend him, do something so he won't make that stupid mistake again.

That was not the point of my comment... at all.
You're calling it an accident. It wasn't an accident at all. He threw the bat intentionally show boating.

I get that I am pushing back on a baseball view with a baseball legend, but your take seems quite accepting and dismissive of what happened.

Drop the bat. Then the next batter can grab it and bring it back to the dugout or toss/hand it to whoever was in the hole.
If a bat needs to be tossed back towards the dugout, then turn around and toss it- then trot the bases and absorb all the glory of your greatness.
- The kid is at least 12' down the 1B line when he flings his bad back across the batter's box where there is a catcher, an up, and an incoming teammate jogging down the 3B line to score.
- If the bat hadnt drilled the up in the 17ing skull, it would have only gotten like 10' closer to the dugout compared to if he had dropped the bad in the batter's box.
- The kid took 7 steps towards 1B before he let go of the bat and flung it back across home plate.

There is simply 0 legitimate reason for this to happen. Any attempt to explain it away is justifying behavior that is at best unnecessary and at worst, dangerous.

Damn man.

Just how much free time do you have to craft responses like this?

Btw, Bruce is right. Ridiculous overreactions and overanalysis of an accident.

Ump may or may not have flopped but let’s hit you in the side of the head with a baseball bat thrown and see how much it hurts!

Fake injuries in sports happen to slow down the game or to get a foul but a baseball bat to head? Common man, that **** would hurt like hell!
Best flips are can be fun but batt flips are dangerous. Both can be true. It should not be in the game because having the awareness not to flip toward someone after an intense at bat is not easy and mistakes will be made.
Some rules are good for a reason.

Yeah, the ump shares in the fault and should have kept his mask on even though the ball was 350' away, the ball wasnt in play, and there wouldnt be a play at the plate!**

17ing hilarious take.
There is almost no point in a game when ALL is clear, more than when a homerun is hit since there is no chance of a play being made anywhere on the field.

You're calling it an accident. It wasn't an accident at all. He threw the bat intentionally show boating.
Obviously, the throwing of the bat wasn't the "accidental" part. Every batter drops, throws, slings or flips the bat after literally every hit or ball in play in every game at every level of baseball. That happens dozens of times per game, every game, every day. So, it wasn't an accident that he got rid of the bat. You or I may disagree with the manner in which he got rid of it, but that part wasn't an accident.

Hitting the ump who had walked up the 3B line when the batter was headed the other way was the part that this batter did unintentionally. I had never seen an ump get hit like that before. That's the 'accident' we are talking about... Surely you knew that.

Y'all are scary. You see stuff that just isn't there.

It was an accident. It's not really a bat flip. He did not expect the ump to be there and was tossing it back towards the dugout. MAYBE he should get a one game suspension.
looked to me like he was just tossing it toward his dugout instead of the other teams

Twitter sucked 15 when few people knew what to use it for.
Twitter sucked 10 years ago when it was riddled with lies that spread.
Twitter sucked 5 years ago when it was riddled with lies that are spread.
Twitter sucks now because it is riddled with lies that are spread.

There are some genuinely good things that are on Twitter and that have happened because of Twitter. But I basically cant bring myself to trust almost anything without googling and checking what is claimed. Videos of war are constantly not only not from the war that is being referenced, but they arent even from the same decade or same continent.
Its a completely worthless platform for 1st hand info, so its pretty damn worthless for 2nd hand info too.

Twitter was not controlled by the Democratic Party in years past, and it is not controlled by the Republican Party or Conservatives or whatever now.
Believing it was controlled by the Democratic Party is, ironically, one of the many lies that have been spread on Twitter. Or its you choosing to misinterpret reality and being dramatic.
It is only rivaled in disinformation by TikTok which is Chinese government-controlled "media".

It is a weird world. ....and can be ironic but also contradictory.

So not punishing bad behavior is bad. But in this case, bad behavior good. Hmmmm.

The kid wasn't just innocently tossing his bat back to the dugout. He was pimping his home run ball up the 1B line and put a nice little "keep looking at me" on by throwing his bat up in the air towards his dugout without any regard to anyone else around.

Does he need to be thrown out of baseball? No. However unfortunately this behavior is becoming more and more common and needs to be nipped in the bud.
