Jordan Goodwin - Junior All American
The USA Today's 247Sports.com’s composite listings have Goodwin at No. 90, well below many of the players he’s been outplaying through the first two sessions for the St. Louis Eagles in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. Through seven games, he’s leading the team averages in scoring (17.6), rebounding (10.3), assists (4.0) and is second on the team in steals (1.4). This is against the best competition in the Midwest including a showcase event in Indy last weekend.
Going into the EYBL season, Goodwin’s biggest offer was from Illinois. In the past few days, Texas and Connecticut have offered. He also holds offers for both football and basketball at Iowa.
Goodwin led Althoff to a Class 3A state title in basketball and as a starting outside linebacker and tight end, helped his school finish runner-up in Class 4A in football. Goodwin didn’t start playing football until his sophomore year, but while his future is in basketball, he has benefited from the physical nature of the gridiron.
“I think it helps with my aggressiveness, getting to the basket and finishing,” Goodwin said. “Playing two sports keeps me active all year, football, the weight room and basketball. I’m in shape, I can run. Playing in football keeps me in shape.”
Should he play his senior year of football?
