Seems like a chance for other schools to evaluate our talent and make offers to them to jump in the portal

Spring games are the oddest thing about college football to me. And now you risk losing players to other teams.

Nebraska lost two players to injuries in the spring game last year. Also, SEC has a rule that I you cannot transfer after spring to another sec school.
There will be some differences this year with the spring games itself

Yep, cancel them for eternity, total waste of fans time. Nothing coaches can do there they can't do on the practice field.

I have never and find it hard to believe I will ever care about the current form of a spring game. I liked the proposed idea of P5 teams playing lower level D1 competition, ie FCS, in an actual exhibition game

Shut it all down, Only practice indoors, make everyone sign an NDA, no media interviews or stories talking up the team. Make it a total 17ing surprise when the team takes the field in the fall.***

The transfer portal is so much fun these days.
Eventually the pendulum will swing the other way. It’ll be interesting to see what that looks like. Programs shutting down, players association collective bargaining, the underpaid left guard O Le’ blocking for the 7 figure running back .

It use to provide a springtime opportunity to fund our best with Benjamin handshakes but the need for that has obviously gone by the wayside.

They were an excuse to add another event to schools' big spring weekend. I care nothing about the srping game, but an SEC baseball weekend, coupled with a spring game and a decent concert has the potential to be a good draw for the area and for recruiting students out of the rising seniors (and younger students) and maybe the occasional late deciding Sr.

Not sure why we've 17ed that up lately. I assume it's that we already fill the hotles during SEC baseball weekends so they don't see the need to do anything bigger, but I feel like everytime you have enough of a draw in the city/on campus that hotel rooms skyrocket, that is good for the school and the city.

LOL Who would it surprise if players started to demand to be paid to play in the spring game.
spring game, every regular season game, paid to win regular season game, paid to play in a bowl, paid to win a bowl

We should have our spring game for next year after the 4th game this year. That way no one can redshirt and transfer.
