Should WVU reduce the number of seats at the Coliseum?

I love the fact The Coliseum holds 14,000 people and when its packed full it gets rocking.

But would it be better to reduce the number of seats to around 10,000 to 11,000?

11,000 is still a great crowd and if WVU has a lower attendance game of 8 or 9 thousand it would still have a sold out kind of feeling.

I think part of this attendance issue is taking everything into consideration having 9,000 people show up for a mid week basketball game against a lesser opponent is actually a good crowd. It just feels empty because of the size and all the empty seats. It would also keep everyone closer together and create more energy.

Our attendance really isn't that bad as you say, the coliseum is just too big. Pitt averages around 9k /game in the big city so wvu is slightly ahead of that. The students need to be closer to the court. We have an older crowd at most games and it sounds like a funeral, more students closer to the court would make for a better environment.

If WVU follows through and has the money to put suites into the Coliseum this year, there will be hundreds of seats lost with the addition of those suites. In return for the loss of those regular seats, WVU will obviously make a lot more money from the new suites. Having said that, I'll bet no one at WVU is worried about the loss of those regular seats. I think most would agree that a loss of seats is actually a good thing............

I have always thought a couple sets of suites and about 2-3 thousand less seats would be beneficial. Also, I'd love to see the student section wrap around the lower level like they do at Michigan State.

Management would like to have it between 10-12,000 and supposedly it will be reduced by 300-500 in the next 10-12 months..... A decent start......and with suites there would be little to no change in $$$$$

take away 3 thousand seats, add suites. Whats a shame is how the coliseum is constructed. I love seeing the student sections behind the baskets and we cannot do that in the coliseum.

I attended the MD/Iowa game and UMD also wraps their students around the lower level. It gets loud on the floor.
