He gets ****, and rightfully so, for being a liability at the plate but that was a fantastic play. All and all our fielding has been much improved this year. Of course not having Slate Alford out there helps.
Chester deserves some credit as well.
Kohler also caught two balls in foul territory with his catcher throwing a helmet at him.
Who beat out the double play in the top of the 9th to allow Hines the opportunity to bat? He deserves some credit too.
No one. It went line out, 1B, K, HR.
You're probably thinking of when Hines beat out a double play before we scored five runs in the third. After Hines (all with two outs): 2-run 2B, HBP, 3-run HR
Agree. That play off the pitcher's hand could have led to a collapse. Chester didn't panic and made the play. You come into the game in the bottom of the 9th with a 1-run lead, and the first two balls come to you, one off the pitcher's hand.
Nobody. It didn't happen. The sequence was, Chance lined out. Mershon singled. Mershon moved to 2B with errant pickoff that went into dugout. Jordan Ks. Hines homered 2 RBI.
The Kohler home run early was huge although unexpected early in the game. It would really help this offensive line-up if Kohler could be a power threat.
He was smiling like a kid at Christmas rounding the bases. Hope that loosens something up for him. We need his bat, obviously.
And long didn’t look like he was in a good position to catch either of those balls.
Every time I watch that I’m surprised the ball doesn’t pop out the top of the catcher mitt
I was driving back from the zoo listening when he hit that & told the wife if this is him putting it all together it could go a long way to help us.
