I think we should take a moment to applaud a couple of schools who have fallen on lean times for the better part the past decade and were basically dead in the water and have worked hard to rebuild their programs.
Shoutout to the once-storied Park View program who finished just outside the final playoff spot in 4C (and yes they are in a four team district). They were in the hunt to make the playoffs for much of the season.
And also kudos to Auburn. They’ve struggled in recent years with forfeits and player numbers and I believe they’ve fully and/or partially shut down their program on multiple occasions. They are now playoff bound.
There are other teams I’m sure I missed (Charles City County maybe?).
But nonetheless…a special recognition of these schools who have come from nothing in recent times to putting in the work and the effort should be in order.
