Newbie and first time poster. Long time supporter and in attendance at every home game for last 5 years but seriously considering skipping this weeks game. Not that I want to because I love it but at the same time sick of the lack of progress. I drank the Kool-Aid when Mullen took the job and knew that good times were coming. Sat in the stands and watched us give away games to Houston and LSU that first year and still smiled because it was evident that Dan would soon be taking us to the promised land. Mistakes were made but then again any rookie coach would make the same mistakes. Reveled in the bliss of the Egg Bowl and knew that we were on our way. Enjoyed the next year and even though still not on par with the big guys it was evident we were gaining. Went to Oxford and watched the domination of Superman Relf knew that even with a 2 star QB Mullen could make the system go. Made the trip to the Gator Bowl and saw exactly what we dreamed of in the offense. I knew we were on our way.

Third year still not bad by our standards but still seeing those things that make you grit your teeth. Fourth year got exposed by the stiff competition and the terrible back half of the season despite a so-called record setting offense. And then the debacle in the Gator Bowl when Mullen allowed Tyler to self-destruct and left him in to drown.

Knew coming into this year that given the missing pieces and the schedule 6-6 would be a pretty decent year. Figured OSU would be a L. What got me was the statement from Les that they got conservative after getting the first field goal. What? You're telling me you thought you were going to win 3-0. I'd a never admitted it if I were him. Then you burn the redshirt of everybody but the water boy in the Alcorn game only to give Shumpert one carry against Auburn. Really? What about that makes any sense? Now that you've burned his red shirt give him the danged ball 7-10 times per game. Game management was ridiculous.

We're 5 years into a rebuilding program and I was more pleased in year one than I am now. Where's the evidence that these coaches are learning and getting it done? My outlook is not too optimistic other than a pretty decent recruiting class is being put together. If somehow Mullen can hold it together then maybe things will be better next year. The schedule is softer but still no confidence that the program is getting better.

Just my two cents. Like Dennis Miller this is just my opinion and I could be wrong. Let's hope so.

Get to the game early and stay for the whole thing. One thing these players don't need is lack of fan support. There will be some recruits at the game too.

Our talent level on D is as high as I remember it. This is the deepest team on D I can recall. Maybe 2011, but the depth is better on this team b

Putting together a decent recruiting class? Who is? Us? I strongly disagree.

None of the top 100 committed, and a grand total of TWO players 4 stars or better. The rest of the conference is leaving us in the dust. It's ******* time. It's Dan's 6th class, and this is how it's shaping up?

I'd agree the talent is there. Just can't say I see it being utilized. I feel for the kids.

I agree with the talent assessment. But it seems to be squandered by coaching gaffes.

The running back from West Point alone is a pretty good class. Lance Pogue said he is the best he has seen in 21 years in the business.

Easy.

There is no progress. Not a damn lick of it. Perhaps one can argue that there's no regression, that the team is sort of stuck on cruise control. But progress? I'm with ya on that.

I think the level of elite talent is worse. Think of the NFL draft picks on defense we have had playing together in recent years. I don't think we have that elite talent now.

We've given up 48 points in 3 games. That's an average of 16 points a game (yes, I realize one was Alcorn). Considering we have played one of the biggest offensive juggernauts in the nation over the past few years and a Gus Malzahn offense, I think its a little ridiculous people are complaining about our defense. Heck we held OSU to 175 passing yards.

If you are a fan of Mississippi State, and you are considering boycotting this game because we are 1-2, then you really are not a fan at all. I swear most of the people that are bashing Dan are doing it just because it seems like the "cool" thing to do at this point.

This ^. If you told me we could hold Auburn and OSU to 21 and 24 I would take that all day. Then you consider in both games our defense was on he field all damn day long because we couldn't grind out any first downs.

I heard yesterday on cowherd the margin for error in the NFL is smaller then ever, meaning games are tighter than ever before. OC's in the NFL call effective plays about 50% of the time, and that percentage increases with more talented qb's. Therefore, you can not afford errors or not to get the ball to your best and brightest. The offense is going to have to figure out how to keep the ball a lot more, score when given a short field, and not be as predictable as they have so far. Can I get a lead blocker, and run nick griffin, shumpert, Jrob between the tackles and play action some off of that please?

They WILL be good. Across the board this should be a fun group to watch. (Just not this year). We probably have the youngest with the most potential we have ever had.
