how have you never learned the difference between a raise and an extension of employment?
if stans finishes out his new contract then he will have made the same amount each year in the future as he is currently receiving.
that is not a raise. It is making the same in the future as now...that is the opposite of a raise.

A would be free agent that has 1 year left and $1.3 million signs a 2 yr./$1.5 million extension with all money guaranteed. He got a "raise" even though he is only making just above half per year of his current contract since there was no guarantee he would've been signed by another team in free agency.
