Sid has a high offensive basketball IQ.

He has great vision, he's good around the basket, and he has a very soft touch. He probably won't, but I think if he stayed next year and dropped 20 more pounds, he could be 1st team All SEC. Just watch him in the middle of Auburn's 2-3 zone. You can see him picking it apart with his eyes. He's very good at basketball, he just lets his emotions get the better of him sometimes. </p>

...He truly looks like a giant 6 year old kid. If he hates basketball, maybe he should try football.....if he was fast enough, just think what kind of target over the middle he'd be for Tyler Russell.

Sincerely
Someone who was at tonights game.

P.S. He played well tonight at times. Then again, any other coach would have benched his fat *** LONG ago.

Lewis playing extended minutes on offense is usually just as much of a liability as Sidney on defense, and we have no one after that. Sid does have offensive (stress, OFFENSIVE) smarts, but they seem easily clouded by his fatigue and/or temper.

he has some illness or sickness that needs medical attention. I'm no doctor but his stamina is bothersome and I don't think it's because he doesn't care. Anyone a doctor on here? Could Sidney have something that would cause easy fatigue and difficulty with weight issues? No way he is STILL out of shape from just laziness.

the basket when moultrie has the ball on the wing one on one.

What you cannot see on tv is what we see at the game. The fat 17 stands around and does not help on offense or defense unless he happens to be lucky enough to be standing where the 17ing play converges to.

I'll take 2 lewis' for his dumb *** any day.

of what we both saw in person at the game today.

edit: Also, please take note you're complaining about the offensive performance of our second-leading scorer today.

You would take Wendell over Sid? Wendell is not a good basketball player. He gives great effort, buthe just isn't a good basketball player. He has no skill around the basket, he looks like he's chest passing the ball when he shoots free throws, and he's easily moveable on the block, both offensively and defensively. Sid, although he doesn't give effort on every play, is an effective scorer in the low block, he can shoot the 3 ball, and he can pass the ball.

Wendell is active, which sometimes makes it look like he is doing more, but a lot of time it's unproductive movement.Sidney is getting better. He's getting into better game shape, and I've seen great improvement from him. He's doing much better work on both ends. Could he improve more? Absolutely. Butthere is no wayyou can make me believe Wendellor Roquez or anyone else over 6 feet should take away from Sid's minutes.

hypothyroidism could certainly cause weight/fatigue issues. Or he could have some lame-*** diagnosis of last resort like chronic fatigue syndrome. My vote is apathy.<div>

Sid has very good court vision... if you read the John Lucas interview from this summer he said part of his frustrations you see on the court come when players don't always play to the level that you see things (i.e. Shaun Smith)

He DOES have great basketball IQ. In fact, he has the best basketball IQ on the team, even more-so than Rodney Hood and Arnett Moultrie. However, his off-the-court IQ is so bad it's literally unhealthy.

So it's a matter of he is so giftend and so far beyond the abilities of his highly recruited teammates? So that's why he walks up the court constantly? That's why he doesn't back into the block and establish position each trip down court? That's why his defensive stance is to be fully upright?

It's amazing all the 1 and done players in the last 7 years were able to not flip out on their teammates since they were so much more advanced.

Overall he does not play the game of basketball at a complete level but I was also agreeing with the post that his IQ on the game is very high but his immaturity takes the best of him and it will probably never change which is why he's bound for Europe in the near future and not the NBA. You can be one and done or a high draft pick and not have a good basketball IQ (i.e. Gerald Green, Tyrus Thomas, etc.) and just get by on ability in the NBA so that claim makes no sense.<div>
</div><div>Also... his highly recruited teammates? I would take a look at our roster and even Arnett and Dee didn't get a lot of love on the recruiting trail... Hood was the only kid that had an offer out of HS that I would say even rivals MSU basketball so to argue that his teammates were recruited on his level makes no sense either.</div><div>
</div><div>Is Sidney lazy and selfish? YES.... Is his IQ and court vision superb, quite possible the best on this team? YES... that was what the post was about and that was why I responded with that.</div>

Would you please be more specific, because I can't see it. Not saying he doesn't have one, but when you are that lazy, how can you tell? Having great vision to throw passes that your teammates can't catch doesn't make you have a high basketball IQ. So will someone please explain this high basketball IQ to me? If he has a high IQ on defense, he's never shown it. He doesn't play team defense. That's for sure. Is it because he doesn't know how? I don't know. Probably not. He is the biggest person on the court and avoids the block on offense, unless it's the beginning of the game. It's hard to tell what kind of IQ he has.

Does not move his feet on defense.......never blocks out.......never follows his shot.....does not know how to switch on defense, but nobody on our team knows.

Somebody who has played basketball his whole life, his fundamentals and IQ are awful.

That hinders him considerably from what he could be doing. But that doesn't mean he isn't smart. Look at how he managed the zone against Auburn. He got right in the middle of it every time, made good passes to teammates out of it, or put it on the floor and made a play likethat really nice finger roll. He positions himself very well against the big men he's faced when he has the ball, and he is able to use his skill set in multiple ways to score.

About once every 2 games, he gets that breakaway transition basket when he beats his man down the floor and gets an easy basket. He understands he is not in great shape, but he can use that to his advantage sometimes because the big men he faces think he won't ever run. Also watch how he leaks out for 3 point shots. He hedges his man toward the middle, gets him looking elsewhere, and pops outfor a wide open3.

Just because he's out of shape and doesn't run all the time doesn't mean he isn't smart. He just physically can't do all of the things necessary of him right now. But the guy is smart. And I would like to know where all of thesepasses are that the teammates can't catch. I don't think I've seen many of those.

He is just out of shape, lazy, and a BIG boy.. I just can't understand why he isn't in shape? There has to be something going on with him...

<span style="font-weight: bold;">Some people are just going to hate on him</span>, but the Kid is smart and has all the skills.. <span style="font-weight: bold;">He just needs to get that weight off and be motivated</span>...

One of the callers on Head to Head said that he knows three different doctors that think there has to be something wrong with him as well. I am no doctor, but there's no way you can play two season's of basketball and not get in shape enough to play an entire game, unless something is wrong with you physically. I'm not in good shape, but I can jog a mile. I'm 27. I could be in game shape in a week if I wanted to be bad enough. I know I am not as big as he is, but something is wrong here. </p>
