SIDNEY: CLOUD OF DOOM

I'm an SC fan, not here to start trouble, just to say you guys will have a solid team, and hopefully don't take Sidney. I really wanted him at SC, but after reading today's article, I'm glad we told him no. I kept saying "it's unfair to Sidney to not take him, when there isn't any allegation of anything being done illegal, and if you find out something, self report, and the NCAA shouldn't penalize the school." After this though, the school is on notice that the father has his hand out, living in a $1,500,000 house, on a $20,000 salary. Someone's paying him. That's where the lack of institutional control comes in, when you have this info, and you take him anyway. Now, you can't say, "we had no idea." His father should hang his head in shame, for putting the kid through this, some role model. Anyway, Stansbury seems like a good guy, and is a solid coach, and I bet they turn him away also. In this day and age, with the ridiculous NCAA, this cloud of doom could get someone the death penalty and it's not worth it. Maybe it would send a message to other fathers/players not to act like thugs.

the "Death Penalty" would come in should they find out that STATE is giving him lots of money, kinda like SC does regularly. We are not. Now, we may have to forfeit some victories down the road if they prove a shoe company is giving money and stuff, but until its proved that WE are doing it, we will be fine.

You guys are as dirty as it comes in college athletics, so dont come over here preaching- we aint buying it.

Well, we hired a lawyer who is experienced in these type matters. If Sidney is ruled eligible (which it appears he will be), we incur no risk of penalty for giving him a scholarship. We only take a risk if we pay him or give illegal inducements. He's a Mississippi kid and wants to come home to play. Your program is on the hotseat with the NCAA so I understand your reluctance. USC has been a highly successful semi-pro sports factory for years and I'm sure you want that to continue. May need to lie low while the heat is on.

i complimented your mid-major program and i get insults...hilarious. on second thought, i hope you take sidney, because you'll pay for it. you can take him to your trailers, with your mullets and 2 teeth, and 300lb girlfriends (1st cousins) in the greatest town on earth, starkville! hope you like the fact that he was your 3rd choice. see you after the death penalty. you shouldn't rip on other schools either, especially when you're the 3rd best school in the state that ranks last in everything. i'd love to crush you guys in football, basketball, and baseball. i'd be angry too if i lived in STARKVILLE, the armpit of the world. somalia has a more civilized population.

backed off of Sidney, you guys sure didn't back RB or Mayo and look at what it is getting you. We will do our due dilligence, and protect the university and the program. If you guys were not paying the 2 afore mentioned ballers, you would be licking Sidney's ballsack all the way to his parents' $1.5 mil home, but you got busted so now you are going to turn the tables on the Sidney family and make yourselves out to be saints in the eyes of the NCAA. Nobody over here is saying that Sidney's stepfather isn't a *****, but please don't come over here and try to act like you are above such activities, no one is buying it.

...and a smart move by Stansbury to take a chance on a local player (Sidney did grow up in Jackson after all). MSU's done it before with Mississippi players (e.g., Dontae' Jones & Cameron Burns (prop 48)) , and we'll do it again.

what was the MSU/Ole Miss football score this year? Uh....45-0? That's what i thought. What Ole Miss's record in baseball? That's what i thought. But HEY you guys were good 25 years ago in baseball!!! That's counts doesn't it? Not really. Want to compare Ole Miss women vs. the toothless ones in STARKVILLE? Yeah, I didn't think so.

but I have to used a little executive priviledge. It's just really funny that this started off as a basketball thread when he was pretending, but the USC fan brings up the football/baseball stuff in the middle of it.

And like a USC fan doesn't have a far superior argument for football and baseball than Ole Miss does.
