I know everyone has their own views, as well as myself.

I am Union fan and we saw first hand how explosive this Appomattox team has been this year. Even many of our fans fell into the trap of us being able to play with them, but I kept telling them that when Appomattox played Dan River it was a game that was played in the remnants of Hurricane Matthew. Oh, how they quickly found out.

Fans need to just sit back and admire what Appomattox has accomplished recently. They may or may not continue this success for awhile, but usually this cycles around.

A tip of my Union Bear hat goes to the players and fans of Appomattox. Enjoy your ride!

Congratulations to the back-to-back state champions, Appomattox County Raiders! I was glad to see that Kelso got himself a TD in his final game. They and many of the players always speak to me whenever Dan River and Appo meet either in basketball, football, and track. Coach Smith has a class-act program there.

BTW, be on the lookout for my state tribute for all 6 champions on Twitter.

Yes...we lose a ton next year (21 experienced Seniors) but return all receivers and QB. Also an up and coming RB/LB went out before the end of the regular season with a non football accidental injury- the kid was showing great promise and will be out front next season.
I think we have a lot of potential to work with but hard to replace the experience being lost. Also we had some "Suprise Seniors" who were out of football for a couple of years who decided to make the full commitment to work and they came back and greatly contributed this year. We have others who I hope will do the same next year given our recent success.
Raider Nation has great confidence in our coaching staff regardless and will look forward to next season...next year.

Well said appo crazy ! Union fan I hope your community and the family of yalls cheerleader continues to find comfort and peace , being the holidays makes things harder , also I would love to come out on a Friday nite and watch a game there sounds like it would be A great experience ! I know sometimes we all get on here and get real competitive so hope everyone has a merry Christmas and a great new year !!

Yes that is correct vol was taking about the starters , we lost #6 to injury and of course losing #21and #26 is big . All of them are really good guys to , so definitely hard to replace that !!

Very true, but did you have to use the word "routed?" That defeat still stings.

Perhaps a better term would have been "laid them gently to sleep." Because they were nice about that butt-whipping. Lol.

Richlands plays at Union this year. 6 games decided by 12 total points. All 6 games have come down to the last possession and the last 4 have ended on the final play of the game. There is no better rivalry (as far as qualitynof games) in SWVA right now.

That was the first game I thought of when @Stabler1980 mentioned coming. And it will be crowded and have a great atmosphere. I assume it will be week 2 again this year.

Gate City will be home this year too. Could be another good one.

Can't wait to see our finalized schedule.

  1. Haven t seen appo schedule yet but heard they were going to play LCA in a bennifit game !any appo guys know anything to that ? Amherst dropped us , hehe ! And Nelson is not playing in dogwood so have a couple of games to fill.

Let me take a moment and say I had a great time on here this football season , being a new person On here sometimes can be different I hope I did not adfind anyone to bad ! After all I am from appomattox va your raining 2a champions back to back ! Ok had to put that one in there , but seriously I have made some new friends on here and meet some new people on here , love seeing everyone pull for there home schools , and seeing the football knowledge on here . Thank you and hope to do this for a while ! Merry Christmas to all !! Time to reload raiders !!

Have a Merry Christmas Stabler1980! I have been posting on this site for quite a while. I know it says only over 160 messages from me but I had to change my user name because of a couple of reasons. Things got really heated in some conversations this year but the great thing about it is the fact that we are on this site because we love high school football and our teams that represent our community! Congrats again to the Appomattox fans on two amazing years of football! A lot to be proud of!
