Going for the very early comparisons, I see.
Besides Tebow, Brandon Spikes was by far their next best player as far as accolades. They had 2 All-SEC OL, 2 All-SEC DL, a couple of solid CBs, plus threat-from-anywhere Percy Harvin and return magic man Brandon James to go along with a slew of impressive freshmen that included Demps and Rainey at RB. Then you throw in juniors Riley Cooper and Aaron Hernandez catching passes as well.
Generally speaking, they have us beat on special teams, and it isn't close.
Our RB corps is better just because of our RBs being veterans, and at this point in their careers Robinson is head and shoulders above anyone else on either roster. Edge to us.
We have a nice receiving corps, but there are 2 future NFL all-pros and another NFL starter on their side. Huge edge to them.
They have 5 future NFL OL on their 2-deep. I see a couple on ours, but 5? Edge to them for the moment.
On D, they have 5 more future NFL players in the secondary. Huge edge to them.
At LB, they have Spikes. Big edge to us.
On the DL, most of their talent is on DE. 3 of their 4 on the 2-deep will play in the NFL. None of their DTs have that I can tell. We appear to have 2 high picks at the moment, and a couple more with NFL potential. It's at least a push, and maybe a slight edge to us.
If these teams played, I'd expect their receiving corps to eat us up while pounded away at them in them middle. Special teams would give them an edge.
Bottom line, they have around 17 guys who will see the field in the NFL on their roster. I don't see that many on our squad. I think we might be in double digits, but 17? That was a ton of talent.
