Whether an offense passes or runs more has nothing to do with how complex an offense is. MSU's offense is more run oriented, and I would say it is quite complex.

And as far as me being "butt hurt"- someone is going to have to explain to me all of the Ole Miss people that don't like Bobby Hall. And as for calling me names- it sounds like Olemissbydamn is the one that is butt hurt. I'm sure he has plenty of experience in that arena.

Sorry- I couldn't let that go.

Since I was one of the contributors to that thread and mentioned that MHSAA coaches found my old school's offense to be complex. The reason why it was called complex was because of the multiple formations shown by my alma mater but the playcalling was very very basic.

To give some examples: 1 - Full house backfield, 2 - Split backfield left wingback, 3 - Split backfield right wingback, 4 - Pro Set, I, I-power

Sample play call:
1-34 - Full house formation, 3 back, 4 hole.
2-34 - Split backfield left wingback, 3 back, 4 hole.
3-34 - Split backfield right wingback, 3 back, 4 hole.
And so on...

This was really simple offensively. My old school ran the ball all the time but the multiple formations gave the appearance of being complex to MHSAA coaches some 30 years ago.

Correct? So, here we have another instance of public school football coaches- who know football- calling a private school offense more complex.

What classifies them as complex; because you said so? How many of their games did you watch last season. And were you their to scout the clarinet sections?

I think a band geek calling me a ***** is a first. But wouldn't you know...it only occurs on the internet.

Lock it down, I'm headed to the tees. Or Todd can keep playing with himself. I'm sure he is used to it.

you definitely can run a much more complex offense with the private schools than you can with MOST public schools. At Grenada, a 5A school that was making the playoffs ewgularly when I was there, we ran 8 plays- that was it. 5 runs to each side and 3 passes. And that was it. We got eliminated in the playoffs by Madison Central and Mike Justice- who's offense was just as simplistic as ours.

And when teaching zone coverage, you would have thought we were explaining it to them in Mandarin Chinese. So we had to go more simplistic than a regular, 3 deep zone. We switched to "ok, you cover that mf'er right there. As a CB, you have the widest mf'er on the field one-on-one"...that was our pass coverage

Olemissbydamn, I'm lost....where is your argument coming from? What is the endpoint of your argument?

Are you simply arguing that Jackson private schools do not run more complex offenses? Did Todd somehow insult you with his opinion that private schools run more complex offenses? I actually don't agree with Todd necessarily, but I can't even figure out what your point is to know if I even agree with you.

Also, please refrain from using any NAFOOM catchphrases in your response (i.e. "butt-hurt," "G.A.Y.," "asinine," etc.). Thanks.

saying that everyone is pissed at Bobby Hall because of his love affair with OM. He's just trying to stir up ****, because he's too narrow minded to understand the complexity of the subject in the original thread. Which had nothing to do with the complexity of offenses, but everything to do with the lack of qb development in MS high schools regardless of their nature, private/public.

He's just like his boy Bobby. Doesn't know when to STFU regarding a subject that he has NO knowledge of at all!! Now go out to the links, smoke some pot, and get run over by your own golf cart!!!

All his backfeild was spec ed kids. he ran 4 running plays-cross,toss,lead,trap. And we had 1 pass play. It was called 40 90 or some ****, basically, espy go out, espy catch ball. So coach is right, most large public schools run simple stuff with good athletes ala usp.

try to prolong or further any type of argument on the whole Public/Private thing etc. However, in terms of the offenses and complexities and so forth, I want to chime in. I guess you would say I am more than pretty close to the MRA athletic program. In 2009, we hosted Kaleb Eulls and 4A Yazoo County. It got embarrassing fast and MRA won the game 41 -0. Anytime we went to more than 2 WR's, they were baffled. If we sent 2 wide to each side, send one short and the other long, they bit every time and it was a matter of throw and catch. Eulls by the way, was blocked all night on the blitz by a 160 pound RB that would pick him up coming from the same spot, same technique, same angle, all night long. He was a complete non-factor.As a State fan, I see his athleticism but obviously I was concerned about the rest of the package in terms of coaching and technique. But that's another story for another time. YC fundamentals and technique were terrible. I think they burnt 2 TO's getting kicking teams on the field. This is just an example of things. What surprised me was that in the following weeks, I would pick up a Saturday paper and see that this team had defeated other 4A teams such as Kosciusko enroute to a 5-7 record.

In 2010, we traveled TO Yazoo County and I wondered if the year before was somewhat of a fluke. It wasn't, MRA won 47-6. YC ran the most simplistic wing T offense I had ever seen. MRA had it diagnosed all night long. However, what was funny, was that the lack of fundamentals from the year before were once again evident. The number of fumbled snaps was laughable.

MRA also took 2 of 2 in a 2 year series with St. Andrews previously. I know some of us private schools are having a hard time finding games against public. But, I think we found an opponent in Scott Central this year. I am not sure how that came about or anything about them to be honest. All of this to say, and I know Yazoo County is just one school, but what I witness in terms of fundamentals and coaching with them vs what we saw every other Friday night in the MAIS, was worlds apart. Athleticism could be argued, but the rest couldn't be.

I won't get into the whole basketball thing as MRA has played many public school games both in state and out of state over the years. However, the one that just made me shake my head was I think 2 years ago when MRA beat Harrison Central, a school with well over 2000 students in high school by around 15 points. I just can't fathom a HS with 2000 students not being able to find 5 basketball players! Anyway, just my two cents on the subject.
