2004 at Bama. The comeback. I was there and didn't leave like lots folks did.
Zimmermans coast to coast win in Oxford. "The Rebels snatch defeat from the jaws of victory". I jumped 10 feet in the air standing there watching in the Tad Pad.

2002 vs Kentucky in the Hump
The students were all over Gerald Fitch and Jules Camara before the game. Fitch because he was talking back. Camara because he had just gotten his DUI. Fitch actually looked over and said, "We're gonna beat you mother 17ers" by 30." Looked to be that way at first. We started that game down 21-2 and were behind 40-24 at the half. Then the comeback... then Austin hits the three with seven seconds left to force OT... then a five point win in OT. Zimmerman had two sweet dunks to cap a big run in the second half and Austin scored 32.

Was also there for that game and it was fantastic! The state-bama rivalry of 5-10 years ago was a ton of fun.
The pregame atmosphere that same year before the UK game was unreal...quite different than post
game.
And of course when stand let Carl Hess know he was choking during the ole miss game.
Maybe not as big a game, but one moment that really stands out was 06 I believe, when on the first possession against bama at home jamont goes rite down the lane and dunked; placing his crotch squarely in the mouth of Jean Felix...I hated him along with that entire team.
2004 at Bama was the most miserable basketball game I had ever sat through until the very end...then pure euphoria. What a day.
Bob Boyd yelling at Chauncey Robinson to shoot the ball. Seriously though, my favorite memory still is spending the night before the '91 game versus LSU outside the Hump.
I know The Hump was half empty (or half full, as one of my optimistic friends said), but beating Ole Miss last year felt really good. Marshall went something like 4-19 from the field. It was excellent. Ray's first big win.
As far as the better times go, the 2009 SEC Tourney was a lot of fun. But I don't think you can match the pure euphoria of the comeback in Tuscaloosa to win the SEC in 2004.

Getting to see the 96 team play in New York (actually NJ) but still that was cool. Been better if we won.
Forgot the year, but Cameron Burns hitting those 2 free throws against Ole Miss to tie the game with no time left on the clock. We went on win the game.

A part of me kind of wishes that a friend didn't relieve me and take my place in line at around 7:30 that morning after if only because I missed Jackie Sherrill bringing doughnuts but I appreciated getting a little rest (I didn't sleep though) before heading back for the game.

1985 against Alabama. There had been an ice storm and classes were out from Wed-Friday. They decided to play the game Saturday and offered free admission. Anyway, I had a horrible cold and fever. My girlfriend and I walked from Arbour acres to the Hump slipping and sliding through the ice.
Anyway, the crowd was rowdy and looking for a fight. Since it was free admission, the students were closer to the court than usual, plus we were all on the front row. I was suffering from my fever....until some Alabama player jostled Ken Harvey. Harvey then proceeded to knock the living **** out of him. You could hear the smack loud and clear.
That smack broke my fever, and the crowd was out of control for the rest of the night. BTW, State won.

Agree, the "Riff-Raff" game. I was there too, right behind the Alabama bench. Not only was there a fight with two players ejected, but State won after Alabama sunk a half-court shot as time expired but the referee didn't allow it. Whip Sanderson, the Alabama coach, ran off the court screaming. Wimp later said that State should try to keep the "riff-raff" out of the arena. Proud to say I was part of the riff-raff, we gave Wimp a hard time all game.
The choke signal by Stansbury in the OM game was great...

One memory that is being left off, is the 2004 game at USCe when Bowers nailed a 3 for the winner with under 10 ticks left. I rarely listened to MSU games on the radio, but did that night and it was worth it.

We drove in 4 wheel drive to the game. it was great. Wimp still talks about the night "They let the riff-raff In"
Back in the Babe McCarty GYM, had to be around the early 70's State and Tenn. Played a triple OT game that was great. We lost but it was great. Ron Widby and 7 footer Tom Boerwinkle played for the Vols.Both went Pro-Tom with the Bulls and Ron punted for the Cowboys for years.
I was there. It was awesome. 17-5 top close out regulation, mostly Frazier's doings. At some point Stans being Stans chose to put a walk on in the game to shoot FTs for someone. I guess there was an injury? Predictably, he missed.
Didn't we also beat USCe in 2006 on Ben Hansbrough's 3 free throws? I think we needed a 3 to tie it up and force overtime and he got fouled... then very arrogantly nailed 3 straight FTs to force the OT. We ended up winning in OT.

Whenever I was at Rosey Baby watching an away game and Winsome Frazier got hot. The guy could empty a keg in ten minutes. For those that don't know... you used to get a free beer for every 3pt shot made by MSU if you were watching the game at Rosey Baby. Think the same went for touchdowns during football season.... so you pretty much had to buy every beer.

You did, and I was at that one too. They were horrible, but in typical Stans fashion we farted around with them. Varnado had a big game and fouled out I think in the OT and maybe some others too.
I was there...March 6, 2004. That was the last regular game of the season and we were playing Bama. Clinched the SEC Outright with that OT win. Timmie Bowers was on fire with the 3s, and Frazier got hot late. Rosey Baby couldn't even keep up with it after a while, and just started bringing pitchers around and setting them on the table. I think I drank for 2 hours after the game b/c some folks gave up (I was sloshed). I think I even managed an extra free beer when the one late afternoon train came by (which was another "free beer" event). I just looked up the stats from that game, and there were 11 3s made, so 11-free beers per person in that old train warehouse. That day is one of my favorites from college; spring was in the air, and our team won a HUGE game on the road.
This post is semi-legendary because....
it means I have seen the ever elusive, multiple nicknamed Goat. I was there that day as well. And if you were one of the last stragglers, we would have met as we took the pitchers off the tables of the people who left because they couldn't handle it anymore. And on the subject of Rosey Baby... I miss 25 cent oyster night.

Sir, I can assure you I am not the Goat. No way to really prove that other than to inform you that I believe bunting is a fundamental part of baseball. I also used to close my posts with "Sorry, Lars" - especially when it was an anti-Olemiss post (I believe Lars was the goat).
That said, I know who you are, sir (only as of today). In fact, we've run in the same circles. I was there when you ordered your first Scotch on the Rocks at Flo and Eddies - just because you wanted to see what it felt like to order such a classy drink at that bar. I don't agree with your politics, but you're one of those older guys I respected and took advice from while gracing the campus we all love. I won't post anything else, because a good handle is a terrible thing to waste...but you know me - and I'm not the goat.

Well - not much advice. In fact, the only thing that stuck was the greek-alphabet trick while Colonel Angus was paying a visit. Up until hearing you mention that trick casually in a sausage-party setting, I was pretty much just a motor-boater, cow-drinking-milk kind of guy. Now that I mention it, that's probably advice my wife is more thankful for than me.

Being a 99-04er, basketball was some awesome stuff every season. We made the road trip over to Bama for that last game of the season- my wife(fiance at the time) went to Tulane and came with. She was shocked at the atmosphere of a big time rivalry game. The emotional rollercoaster that was that game was a helluva time.
And you are spot on with the Bama rivalry of 5-10 years ago as well as the atmosphere before the UK game when they came to town in '04. That UK game atmosphere was fantastic. There was some serious excitement in the days leading up to it. It was like Duke fans camping out for tickets.
