I think it would look closer to home, since Valeri Sykes, counselor, who admitted changing Robinson's grade, has 2 degrees from Ole Miss, worked as a counselor in Batesville. Robinson was highly recruited by Ole Miss, and when he became "eligible " to enroll in a college, he chose Auburn over Ole Miss. When he made that choice, his grades were changed back by another counselor , confusing Auburn as to which transcript was correct. Valeri claimed someone told her, but she did not know who. The computer audit trail proved she made the original change in Robinsons' grades at Woodale H.S..

Per a later Commercial-Appeal story, counselor Valerie Starks-Sykes admitted to having made the changes and resigned rather than accept a suspension. She refused to provide Memphis City Schools with a motivation for altering the transcript, other than to say she was "certain someone had asked her to make the changes," per an MCS e-mail account of her comments. Starks-Sykes did not name anyone else who might have also been involved in the changes.
A second counselor, Yvette Lynch, was found to have changed two grades according to MCS e-mails obtained by theCommercial-Appeal and confirmed that she, too, had twice spoken to NCAA officials. She said she had "absolutely not" received anything in exchange for making the grade changes.
"Let me say this: I never change a grade unless a teacher requests it," she said.

Is it possible that OM boosters became so desperate that they went on the offensive attacking recruiting of other SEC schools? Specifically the 2 that they thought had the best chance to fall (keep in mind this was before Petrino's wreck). Is that even possible that they try to get MSU and Auburn sanctions? Anything is possible when you have a dumpster fire in your program... But that does sound far fetched... Maybe we should all pose as boosters for other programs and offer $180K for a player, and record it... and then turn ourselves in. Kindof even out the playing field. Start with Bama & LSU...

investigate State, have a State coach resign, influence national media outlets to write glowing reviews of the Grove and Oxford, buy 7-on-7 coaches, hire private investigators to take down State, buy players left and right, and control what ESPN says, then why don't we have enough influence to compete in the SEC the last couple of years? Shouldn't this level of influence help us to be a better football program?

The "New SPS" way: A Bearz fan points out the gaping flaws in your logic and you retort with something that has nothing to do with what I said. I do not (nor do most Bearz fans) think we will beat Texas. However, the level of power attributed to us by this board is staggering since we've been so awful the last couple of years. Logic would dictate that a school with so much national influence would also be able to win. Face it: You provided some improper benefits (just like every school in the conference) and you got caught. It happens to us all. Clinging to the delusion that State is the only clean program in the conference just makes you look silly.

The "race" issues at Ole Miss trump any amount of money that your Alums can throw out.*** The cash flow does help though, there are always a few folks that will sell out regardless of the amount of shame that comes with it. See CJ for a perfect example, he even has a Confederate flag draped over the back window of his new truck to show that he is all in with the Ole Miss family. Of course, that is only if the cash keeps coming in.
