it appears the kentucky jokrxxms debacle is drawing to its inevitable conclusion. But interestingly the rumor is that the conclusion may be reached prior to the end of the year. It's rumor, but it's out there that UK has a chance to land Petrino before better situated programs decide to roll the PR dice on him. In order to seal it with Petrino, jokrxxms has to announce soon his resignation effective at the end of the season. Announcing petrino in a novemberish time frame would allow some traction on the recruiting trail.

Bad news for us if true... Do not want Petrino anywhere near our permanent cross division rival!

First off, i just cant see Bobby getting another SEC job. Secondly, Bobby isn't dumb. He'd pass on it for a shot at Auburn, Tenn, or some other program.

Sorry Shum, just don't see it.

We could take him at Arkansas, a permanent foe, he doesn't scare me at Kentucky

No, we couldn't.

In the cumulative total of Patrino's career there, we were far more competitive overall with LSU than Arkansas. Got absolutely torched on the road twice, and came close to winning one at home.

I simply don't want UK getting a coach on that level.

Well, that's probably true, but our record with arky wasn't great before he got there. Kentucky is a different animal. Football is something they pass the time with waiting on basketball. He would not stay there long, if he could help it.

Agree. But I can't resist a good coaching carousel rumor like this. ***

Make no doubt about it Bobby Petrino is one hell of a good football coach. He's also one hell of a piece of ****. I think he ends up at L'Ville after Charlie Strong bolts to Arkansas. I just can't see Petrino wanting back in the SEC after he embarrassed himself and his family. He won't be able to recruit against all that negative recruiting the other coaches will do. Give any coach in the SEC 5 minutes with mommy and daddy and their son won't be signing with Petrino. He is 17ed in SEC land.

Auburn has shown time and time again that they will sell their soul to fill the void of their inferiority complex. No reason to believe they won't go "All In" and hire the likes of a scumbag like Petrino.

If this were to happen, I think Petrino would be grateful for the offer and would remain at Kentucky for awhile. This would definitely suck for us! Especially after he gets the foundation for his offense in place. Kentucky can recruit well enough to remain competitive with us in the present, we don't need Petrino to reel-in top notch qbs and wideouts with his system in place. But with that said, I don't think it happens.

It would be stupid on his part

Especially since Auburn and possibly Tennessee could open up. I guess his agent is trying to drive his price up?

Interesting read. Last week at the Kentucky game I was with a big time supporter who owns a box and
all his group could talk about was getting Petrino. Pissed off that no one was at the game and that their
coach sucked. By the way he was talking you all most thought he knew something...Maybe something
to the rumor...

I was going to say just the opposite - everyone I asked weren't very big on the idea... Although they seemed to feel there was a legit chance thats what they'd try to do.

The theme from the more common folk I asked, and on the call in shows, was that "we're better than that"

But those aren't the people paying the bills...

I was at the Kentucky game last week as well and was told that Joker had to win two more games this year to stay. Didn't sound like they wanted to give him that option but would. Needless to say they were not happy with him.

Pretty sure he burned the Louisville bridge

When he left for his brief stint with the Atlanta Falcons. Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me but I seem to remember that not going over so well.

I'm not sure Slive would approve of this hire, especially given that only a few

months have passed since it occured..........

I'd like to see it happen if for no other reason than to see the clash between his and Calipari's egos and to see who would come out on top.

Kentucky (or Auburn or Tennessee) doesn't need Slive's approval to hire a football coach. Not that Slive would even try to stop it anyway.

I think you take the first multi-million deal you can get.

Especially since Auburn and possibly Tennessee could open up. I guess his agent is trying to drive his price up?

unless you just can't stand the place. If his agent isn't getting any indication that Auburn and UT will be interested, I'd take UK if I were him. He's not young and he may not have time to work his way through a small time program back into the big leagues again. He's an offensive genius now, but i think it's unlikely he will be viewed that way in 8 years. Head coaches just don't seem to remain elite at the highest level for that long and there's no guarantee he will be one of the exceptions.

At UK, he'd have low expectations and while not a recruiting hotbed, Hal Mumme proved you could get athletes there and he was doing it against a UT that was still good. Certainly Auburn or UT would be better, but even at Auburn, where his character would not be an issue, they'd still be taking a big reputation hit to go after a coach that can't seem to beat Saban. I also doubt Petrino would kiss enough *** to make it at Auburn and sure wouldn't take a back seat to Dye.
