LSU in 2025 is 5x the job Florida is too.

he can live in the good part in his $20 million dollar mansion
It's not 5x better but LSU is better.

It's the only school in the state & has a great talent base that is locked down whereas Florida has to compete with the entire country for their guys.

I'd say LSU's brand is about 30%-40% bigger than Florida's

Of course he would. Does Kiffin want that?
Kiffin holds the cards. I don’t think you push the envelope in this scenario unless it’s a foregone conclusion he is signing the extension and the public statement is just foreshadowing.

If Kiffin’s goal is to get the biggest contract possible he will wait as long as he can to sign anything, even if he stays at ole Miss. the longer it goes the bigger his offer will get from them. If he signs something early with OM he won’t ever leave IMO.

i hope they give him $15 MM a year. The more they stupidly pour into his salary, the less they'll have to buy players. Despite what they think, there is a bottom to their money....and credit

I used to say that too, but they obviously keep finding the money. The better your program is the less you have to overpay for players to come to your school. They can legit offer in the same ballpark and get guys because of his track record at this point. That saves you money on the back end.

I remember hearing he negotiated a really low buyout in his current contract. That's what makes me think he still might bounce when the right opportunity comes.

If they work a new deal with a huge buyout I might put more stock in the talk of him remaining a confederate.
His agent is Jimmy Sexton, I doubt he negotiated a low buyout. That’s not in his vocabulary.

Correct, but Florida is also pretty well respected from a sports standpoint. "Only" a $2M raise, something over 20%. :) Maybe Florida needs to sweeten the deal, offer him 13 or 14, not mention better weather, especially in the winter, a larger town but not huge, a more storied program, etc. Admittedly, though - Kiffin has sort of a similar personality as OM's students and supporters.

Remember - both Dan and his wife allegedly loved Starkville, but wouldn't take a substantial raise to stay, and left at the drop of a hat. So you really never know what Kiffin will do.
UF has Spurrier. They would LOVE Kiffin's personality.

Isn't Mississippi on the verge of being a no income tax state?
It's triggered by certain milestones so many years away. For example as the state brings in more money from investments, gas etc, taxes elsewhere decreases, first bring grocery I believe. A long way away from straight no income tax. Florida is also working on no homeowners tax. For all these that think Florida isn't much better than the Mississippi job, you're delusional and ignorant. When you're making that kind of money, those kind of things makes a big difference plus they have the mentality they'll succeed wherever. Mullen didn't recruit. Kiffen would be crazy to stay on po dunk Oxford with all the limitations compared to what Florida can offer plus all the real world insensitives of living in Florida.

1). “Prestige” means bunk. You people need to change your thinking. Yes, you people.

2) The best coach in the country is at Indiana. Yes. Best coach in the country at the college level.

3) What you did 50 years ago is bunk. What you did 10 years ago is bunk. What you did 5 years ago is bunk. It’s a business. Business equates to ingenuity. Not dollars.

4) Change your f ing thinking. The only thing holding Mississippi State back is the mental mindset I see on this board.

Ole Miss, Oxford-Lafayette County, Keith Carter and Ole Miss Boosters have made it a Top 10 Football job, meanwhile we still “Po Ole Missippii State” thanks to MSU Leadership, MSU Boosters and Starkville-Oktibbeha County Mayor and Supervisors.

He should go to Florida and Ole Miss can get Coach O back for a lower salary and free chicken on a stick.

And how many championships had this coach won at Indiana? He’s played 4 ranked teams in 20 years at Indiana (only 3 regular season). He’s 2-2 in those games.

They will have to pay Kiffin around 12M a year. Mississippi has a 4 year contract law for state employees. They better put a huge buyout if they want to keep Kiffin

Well in short order he has taken a program that in my lifetime has been worse than ours and turned it around and has them in the playoff discussion. You’ve got to admit the job he has done there is nothing short of miraculous. He’s still got a little ways to go winning the big ones but I would take the guy in a heartbeat. He just wins. Google him

Not saying he hadn’t done a great job. But he won’t win titles at Indiana. Also, I wish we had their schedule. It’s easier than Mississippi’s.

A couple of years ago didn’t OM come out and announce a 7-8 year contract for Kiffin fully funded by the boosters because only a couple of hundred thousand of any coaches salary is actually funded by a state contract. Or am I dreaming about that?

Ole Miss is good, Kiffin is a damn good coach and recruiter, Ole Miss has wealthy donors and Oxford is a cool place. All of that sucks for us right now. We need to figure out a way to do what they're doing.

He sounded good on game day. Personally, I don't like the guy. That said, he is a good coach. You guys might also want to remember that a few pro teams are looking for coaches.

They have tried a couple of ways to get around the 4 year rule. Currently, Kiffin's 4 year deal gets automatically renewed for a year if he wins 7 games....but it's a soft renewal since either party can cancel the extra year with notice. Kiffin also reportedly has a side deal with UMAA that pays him bonuses and things and runs through 2029. Houston Nutt had something similar.

I don't think the automatic extra year is enforceable under state law, but I assume it was approved by the Board, and no one is going to challenge it, anyway.

It's past time that certain employees got exempted from the rules that apply to regular state employees. In the meantime, though, I don't see how the boosters can pay a head coach on the side, in ways that violate state law, and also not disclose those deals under the public records act.

If a group of wealthy individuals signed a deal with the governor to pay him "performance bonuses" while in office, shouldn't the public have access to that contract?

Yeah, I don't agree with this. Prestige matters and Florida has been a consistently good program. Recent nattys. There's no reason to think they wouldn't be big players in NIL. They just need the right guy at the helm.
Some where some time I remember seeing/hearing their Gator Club or what ever it is called had about a billion dollars in their coffers

As a 20+ years resident of BR, Qatar looks cozy by comparison. Just waiting on God to finish the job and sink this shitreeking swamp into the Gulf.
I enjoy spending a week in BR every year for work. But I don’t think you could pay me to live there.

Yes. I’m in BR twice a year now as a semi-retired sales guy and that is literally all I can take! I either stay on Constitution or across the Interstate on Corporate, but always near College & I-10.

I hate that area. Quit staying there years ago. Stay at the Hampton downtown now. Much quieter & nice view of the river if you pick your room right. And about a 3 minute drive to my clients office.

Oh good grief. That’s not a Top 10 job. Go peddle that in Oxford. They will love you.
