For what it's worth, I have a SiriusXM receiver built into my car so I turned it on a while back but I hardly ever use it. I mainly listen to podcasts or audiobooks on my iPhone. So I decided I would just go ahead and cancel the service not really thinking about the fact that football was coming up and I actually do listen to some of the games on there. When I told them to cancel, without any other prompting, the guy said "if you want to hang on to it we will give you next year for half price."

Uhh... ok. Bam. Five minute phone call got me a year at half price and saved me $70. Just thought some of you guys may want to know.

Every time my deal/subscription expires, I tell them that I'm going to cancel, unless they give me a really good deal. For a while there, I was getting 5 months for $20 bucks - total. I did that about 3 times, and the last time that deal was no longer available, so I think I'm at 1/2 price.

use much else even in car. My in car radio doesn't have an auxiliary plug in so I plopped down $13 for a transmitter that plugs into the headphone plug of Blackberry and broadcasts through car speakers. Doesn't sound quite as good as normal factory sound but not bad for $13.

they will give you 5 months for $20 but you have to call every 5 months and say you are going to cancel. Last time i did it they said the deal was no longer available so I cancelled. Within 5 days I received a letter in the mail to call in and get my receiver turned back on for $20 for 5 months.

The company is barely making it and cannot lose customers.

Another tip, you can also request free internet for the same time period and they will give you that for free. That way you can stream over your smartphone or listen on your computer.

I think the normal price for it is $49.95/mo, but if you call and tell them that you're thinking real hard about ripping out the whole works and replacing it with AT&T's DSL, they'll usu. give you the "introductory" price of $29.95/mo. for six months. When it goes back up to $49.95/mo. six months later, repeat.
