free up to a certain data amount then charges above that, it's a storage cloud on the interweb making content in the dropbox folder available on any machine. our company uses it quite a bit, including on our android phones.

and it is a real good way to transfer files especially to cell phones. It should also be great for larger files that won't go by email. They provide enough space for the free account.

and have it loaded on my work PC, work laptop, both home PCs and my cell phone. It just flat out works. If I'm working on a file at work and want to be able to look at it some more at home I just drop it in my box and when I get home it's there. Best thing is that I keep some stuff I get asked about a lot in there (the box is just a folder so it's something you can shortcut like any other folder) and no matter what device I am on I can answer questions. My boss was surprised one time when I pulled up our system schedules on my iPhone.

One use people don't think about much is it has a public folder. You can drop something in there, right click and ask for a link, then you can send that link out for people to download off the internet. It only let's them see that one thing so it's not like all the stuff in the folder is available to everyone. I use that a lot to allow other companies we work with to pull down documents.

Also if you ask them they will let you buy different plans than they advertise. I just use it for documents right now so I just needed a little extra space. They let me buy a plan lower than their smallest advertised plan without any hassle. You just have to email them. You probably won't need extra space for a while though unless you are going to store pictures or video.

Great product.

for files on the laptop I take to work, and my desktop at home. The "public" folder makes sharing pictures with the (technologically impaired) 'rents a snap. It synchs right up every time I've used it, and the one time I accidentally deleted EVERYTHING in my dropbox file, a quick trip to the "history" section got it back.<div>Don't know if they're still doing it, but if you register with a .edu account, you get a few more MB of space right off the bat.</div>

I share a lot of my study files through dropbox with students. And I use it as my shared storage location when I am collaborating on a project with others. Look into using it. Don't rely on it as primary storage but it is very helpful as a place to share files with others and if you invite friends you can earn more free space.

I love dropbox, been using for a while now and don't know what I would do without it (so much easier than lugging a flashdrive all over the place. I also like how I can access the files online (such as when I'm in a computer lab or someone else's house)

A+ and if you refer a friend you get more space. i think i'm up to 3.75 gigs. very effecient and small program.

start a dropbox pyramid scheme and you'll be up to your max free space in no time.
