Your faith in ratings is admirable
I have no faith in the ratings. They're just for comparison.

Portal ratings seem quite arbitrary except for the top guys. 86-87 seems to be, meh... we don't really know. 88-89, might have something, 90+ definite something or at least potential.

I do have faith in what I have seen. I watched Peak at NCSU, he's a beast. And Poku at ECU, he's solid. So, I feel good about those two.

A monster at ECU doesn't necessarily translate to a monster in the SEC, or any P4 conference.
This is certainly true.

If I can use an analogy, it's like saying that a Ford Mustang may be fast in some circles, but it's not fast compared to Ferraris and Lamborghinis. But if you were driving a Yugo, a Mustang would be a significant upgrade.

I don't expect our O-line to be one of the best in the SEC next year. But if we have one that is merely average relative to other P4 programs, that would be a significant upgrade from last year's O-line.

Yes. An average OL and we're likely an 8-win team last season.

And if we had the Hoosiers' OL (with all their 3* guys) + their OL coach? 🤔

OL is one of those dead horse discussions that recycle, but it's common knowledge that rating OL coming out of HS is lots of misses with a few hits. Those * ratings become irrelevant once the pads go on.

We'll know in about 10 months if our new coaches know what they are doing.

If I’m Beamer, I’d have to answer, “YES!”

Would I personally pay a cent to any player on scholarship, “NO!”

Setting aside the absurdity of all this stuff, I would agree.

You brought in one elite OL already. Adding Seaton would take our OL from one of the worst in the nation to potentially one of the better ones. The reality is that we have Sellers for one more year, most likely. To maximize his production in that one year, we need the OL to be as strong as possible. We also just added a potentially very good RB from PSU.

The coaches should be doing anything they can do to give Sellers and the RBs every opportunity to succeed.
