The truth is, Franklin lost the passion; we've all saw it over the years. It became apparent he was more of a "I'll get you ready for the pros" and less, "this is a team effort" mentality. He didn't seem to develop players and the ones who seemed to be on track left early. Which is probably why we saw limited playing time for some players. Almost seemed he didn't want some players to shine early, in fear, they'd leave. His pressers were more business oriented than uplifting and his responses sounded robotic. He never seemed to talk to players nor directed/coach them during games. I personally got tired for the "deer in the head lights" look when the games were slipping away. There are a lot of truths coming out but these are some of the biggest ones for me.

Reading a bunch of stuff over the last few days and thought I'd try to put it all in one thread until we get to the truth. I think we can all agree this isn't all about 3 losses in a row. You just don't make that move to a guy that has the 4 most wins in the last 4 years that just went to the semi final. So, here is what I have thus far:

1. Franklin requested a contract extension summer of 2025.
2. Kraft wanted to use $$$ resources to basically buy players and James wasn't on board with that and wanted to be more careful with how the money is spent.
3. JF was an arrogant fella and it finally caught up to him.
4. JFF and Kraft had a huge argument in the locker room in front of the team.
5. JFF after game reaction, he knew it was the end. Was he told going in to the game that this was happening?
6. Adidas paid off the buyout because they wanted him out prior to the season and before the contract was signed.
Franklin was an arrogant greedy a******. Everyone knew that.

If Franklin and Kraft had an argument in the locker room in front of the team that’s an extremely bad look for Kraft.
The post you replied to was meant to be TIC.

That said, given the nature of the situation and the relationship, and the specific series of events: The idea that Kraft would even decide to walk into the locker room at that time is just incredibly inane, IMO.

That's an issue when you have an AD who's MO, from Day 1, is more "Fan Boy" than "Chief Administrator"

A boatload of missteps for both parties to this divorce - for a long time. But that move, apparently initiated by Kraft (if one believes the reports) is just stunningly obtuse.

Do you think Franklin knew what was coming following the game OR do you think that was Drama-James we saw on the field after the NW loss?

Sort of funny. SIAP somewhere. This is not an endorsement for Rhule. The Nebraska QB, Raiola, actually said in a press conference that Rhule isn’t leaving NE because his wife, (who I believe is also a PSU Alum) owns a hair salon in Lincoln. So, there is some proof to your theory.
Not saying Rhule will be the new coach but LMAO at this claim.

I think things have been tense between Krafty and Franklin since before the start of the season. PSU won the first three cupcake games, but didn't look particularly great. I suspect Krafty kept reminding King James of same; hence after the Oregon loss James acted like we was daring Krafty to fire him....especially during the NW fiasco.

If I was owed $50 million and knew that the season was likely to be a train wreck, I would have done the same.

And there is also a lot of ******** being thrown around. Franklin is gone and I agree it was time but why do so many think that they have to trash him on the way out? I hope that the next coach wins that National
Championship that Kraft said Penn State fans deserve but we shall see.

ESPN announces that James Franklin will give his first interview since his firing on College GameDay this Saturday live from Athens, GA.
Franklin was just on GameDay less than 3 weeks ago, under much different circumstances.

I was on board until Clifford's final season as the starting QB. That was when my support started to waver. I simply could not fathom Clifford starting every game while a supposed 5-star QB sat on the bench and watched when it was clear Clifford had no future as a legitimate NFL player.

It became outright indefensible after Penn State suffered their 2nd loss that season. At that point, they were not going to make the 4-team playoff, and continuing to play Clifford was not in the program's best interest when it meant going into 2023 with a completely green starter.

Hindsight is what it is, but you'll never sell me that Clifford playing every meaningful down in 2022 was worth anything. That was where it became obvious to me that Franklin was more interested in playing patty cake with individual players than doing what was best for the program. And we saw the same thing with Drew, and with Singleton and this, as I've said several times now, is the problem: you have play the best guys. Not the guys that you like the best.

Does not work that way.

You among others have spent years harping on anyone that would dare make a critical comment about Franklin. You think that is all going away at a rate that is comfortable for you? Think again.

You et al need to be reminded on an hourly basis how shiitty Franklin is.

I mean, beyond the "threat" of polluting the board with this crap...honest question @Tom McAndrew...why is someone able to come here and create a username to pretend to be someone else? Is it kosher for me to create a new username and post as T0m McAndrew? How has this been allowed for so long?

Re: Asking for an extension with six years left? NFW. I would have agreed to a raise - but not an extension. Good for Kraft; I’m sure this didn’t help things behind the scenes…
Franklin's agent probably told him that it was a good time to renegotiate after making the semifinals last year.

maybe- but I suspect it was really a way to sound out the new AD and Prez to see how much support he really had with them
and once he knew that, he probably knew he was a dead man walking

1. Confirmed

2. Implied on BWI podcast.
3. Subjective?
4. Not confirmed as far as I know.
5. Subjective?
6. Confirmed false.

I also learned the other day that on Franklin's last extension, he went over Barbour and went directly to the board. Hey if it works once, then.......
