Dixon + Ducre was a pretty good backfield. Favorite pic is Saban losing his **** on the sideline.

I say this very carefully... but I liked the basic offense Croom ran... it' just wasn't executed well. The I-Formation, downhill offense with Ducre' and Dixon was the best backfield we've had in a decade, and that downhill running was absolutely punishing, even if the defense knew it was coming. McCorvy (and Croom, for that matter) just had no clue how to to operate a balanced attack. The downhill 1-2 punch of Ducre' and Dixon coupled with a credible play action threat would have been a very potent attack. I mean hell, you see some play action in the video and see how wide open the tight end across the middle is. Why McCorvy and Croom never figured that out is beyond me...

It also deserves mentioning that I used to think Adam Carlson was a bad place kicker... which... he was... He lost us UK and OM in '06. But... his percentage was a lot better than last year.

wes carrol was extremely underrated and for some reason, disliked for this board. he was like 9 passes away from breaking the freshman passing record without an int and....well, the obvious happened. highly underrated at least the time he was here. he didnt end on a high note to say the least, but still, dude was outstanding for a season.

also, that pick 6 was amazing. i will never forget that moment....it was like kissing a unicorn.

ACTUALLY he tied the record prior to the Bama game

and the first offensive play from scrimmage was an interception (the record was Mike Gundy and if memory serves, he released some kind of statement about it prior to the Bama game). But yea, I don't know what happened his sophomore year because he seemed to have a lot of upside his freshman year. I'm sure Croom had a lot to do with it...

I believe it was because Croom created a needless QB controversy with Tyson Lee. Carroll had led us to a bowl game as a true freshman, and in fall camp we start talking about playing Lee, who was a walk-on. I think it messed with his head and he was never the same after getting pulled in the La Tech game.

I still hate myself for wasting the money to go to that game. That whole night was garbage and that stadium sucks ***.

yep. carroll had a hell of a season then the TTM happend. TinyTurnoverMachine. that was purely psychological and imo, we screwed with something that we shouldn't have.

But it wasn't against a top 20 team. Not impressed**
I believe I suffered permanent hearing loss during the int return.

I agree. And the more of Croom's coaching he received, the worse he got.

I still have no idea how it was we sucked so bad against Louisiana Tech. I still have nightmares about that game... it felt like we were at a damn high school and we lost. Then, 2 weeks later we had the game compared only to triple distilled 17uppery and lost 3-2 to Auburn. Then, SOMEHOW lost to Kentucky (who sucked *** pimples that year) on a friggin' missed extra point. AAAANNNNDD the icing on the cake was 45-0... which doesn't seem that bad anymore because that became the end of Croom, and for that, we are grateful.

I liked the part where our guy kicked the ball

and it went between those two poles in the air and then they gave us three points which was awesome.

I think mullen wouldn't have a year without a bowl.

Don't forget that same year, we also beat Arkansas for the first time in 10 years and also beat a ranked, 5-0 Vandy. And we tried like hell to give that game away too with McShank's back to back ****** punts including a glorious 7 yarder.

The pic 6 was a thing of beauty. The stadium was rocking when Johnson did that.

Yeah, it's funny see how Saban used to act back when he didn't have future NFL talent at every position. He probably has nightmares about that year to this day

That's how you could tell he really wanted to go. He should have shook Mullen's hand and said I'm the guy who took this team to a bowl game two years ago, nice to meet you. He would have easily been the starter in 2009.

He was properly rated.. he almost broke that record bc he wasn't asked to make any difficult throws. He couldn't make any throw past 15 years with any semblance of accuracy. He ended up where he belonged in the first place. Definitely not an SEC QB
