This past week saw three pretty good conference games, but unfortunately I don't think that any of this week's games will be nail biters.
The game of the week is definitely Swain and Cherokee. Let's face it, these two programs do not like each other. The Maroon Devils limp into this game without the swagger of most Swain teams. Coming off at 21-20 win at home over a depleted Hayesville squad, it almost feels like a losing streak. On the other hand, the Braves have reason for optimism. Cherokee has a strong line and one of the strongest, if not strongest, backs in the conference. This game is over early. PICK: Cherokee 49 Swain 14
In Graham County, the Black Knights play host to the Rosman Tigers. I haven't seen the Tigers play, but was impressed with their results against what I think is an up and coming Andrews squad. Watching Robbinsville in person this past Friday, I have to admit that I was surprised. Their line is as small as I've ever seen for them, but also plays as hard and tough as past lines.. The two backs, Anderson and Hooper, are simply AS ADVERTISED. The Knights are just too much for the Tigers. PICK: Robbinsville 49 Rosman 6
Finally, the Andrews Wildcats come to THE HILL for homecoming at Murphy High School. There should be a huge crowd for the in-county game, but the only competition in question will be who is crowned homecoming queen for 2018. The Wildcats are young and facing a solid, strong Bulldog team. PICK: Murphy 56 Andrews 7

I know robbinsville has a really good team ! I wouldn’t be surprised if robbinsville scores 49 but I think the tigers score 20. Cherokee will take the game against Swain and murphy will handle business against Andrews . The wildcats have a hood up in coming ball team
BK , those look about right ( imo) the only thing that worries me is our pass defense. I don't think Rosman will be able to run and that will make em take to the air. We have given up a lot yards in the air this year. Murphy threw on us when they needed.
I agree with that sentiment. Our pass defense has been abysmal. Rosman has shown it has a QB that can rack up those yards.
Don't get me wrong , I was very proud of our knights vs the dogs. We could have folded but hung in there. BUT at the end of business on Friday night we had still allowed Murphy almost 500 yards of offense. To ever be taken serious in conversations about beating Murphy in the playoffs or beating Cherokee we'll need to get A Lot better on defense. Not trying to overlook anyone just that those two seem to be the toughest competition in the SMC this year. I was proud of our effort Friday just trying to be realistic. Go Knights.

It is nice though to be able to start most drives near the 50 yd line.!!
