“I’m looking forward to getting down there again,” said Smoot. “Since I’m not playing now, I had more time to get back and help with camps and watch some games. I love being part of the Mississippi State family and loved it last year. It was a lot of fun being with the fellows and seeing Coach Dan Mullen and helping them. It was great to share my knowledge of the game and to just be around the guys again. So I will definitely be back for Big Dawg Camp.”

“I’ve really thought about getting into coaching and I would not coach anywhere but Mississippi State,” Smoot said. “I’ve thought long and hard about it and when you coach you have to give it all your time and be dedicated to it. Right now I just can’t do that but I believe I will be able to down the road. It is something I really want to do, too. I would love to start as a G.A. (Graduate Assistant) and just move up the ladder at Mississippi State.” – MSM

Ole Miss is going with this former player angle too......

Let's let them see how it works out before we start doing it. It may help recruiting, but if they're not the best coach, it may not well.

Smoot will be an excellent DB coach if he ever decides to do it...

This is actually a very old article from back in June or July. Smoot has helped with our DBs in Big Dawg Camp the past two years(every July). The 24/7 national guys that were there covering the event(Barton Simmons and Keith Niebuhr) raved about his enthusiasm and on-field coaching of the players...and there is zero doubt that he would be a lights out recruiter.
