the Bucs would've been able to take a chance on the guy over Rudy freaking Carpenter knowing they could "coach him up" to his potential.

Obviously, they didn't feel like coaching was going to fix him. Snead's problem is between his ears, and it wasn't going to go away even with NFL coaching.
