Snell Still #3 On Latest Depth Chart

Why he hasn't passed JoJo yet is a mystery.

I'm diggin me some Snell.

I agree he has earned the #2 spot behind Williams in my opinion. But in the last Kemp has been good and at times shown he can carry the team on his shoulders. As long as Kemp is being productive in his time on the field they should keep it this way though. Only reason I say this is you bring Snell into the game late. The defense is wore down and he has fresh legs. It will make him harder to tackle and more productive.

In the game, Benny dominated the 4th quarter. Boom and Kemp sat. Benny did not care where he was on the depth chart. Kind of like a kid coming off the bench in a basketball games does not care if he is getting starter's minutes.

What I like is that Gran stuck with Benny in the fourth.

Why did it take him until the 4th to realize it CC ? This deal of earning a job is bull Stooge

Who cares? Wasn't he 3rd this past game. Y'all act like just because of where someone is on the depth chart makes their playing time written in stone.

Agree with @Caveman Catfan, as long as he is ok with it then it doesnt cause issues with upperclassmen and things are calm, in the end though his results will speak for themselves if he keeps this type of play going.

This. The only thing that really makes a difference in these week to week depth charts is who starts. Lots of game to game variables in who goes in as a replacement.

Peace

I think it was time and context. Their defense was getting tired. Stoops watched us losing ground on pass plays. He knew Benny is a battering ram who protects the ball and can run between the tackles. People talk about the backup OL that were in the game, but I think Stoops and Gran know which linemen are the best rush blockers. It worked perfectly; IMO. That was smash mouth football against USC's best unit. Here is the line we are about to cross. Stop us. Benny was the perfect back for that task.

I don't think that they really update this depth chart a whole lot. Cole Mosier is still listed as the #1 ahead of Landon Young despite the fact that Mosier hasn't started or played since being injured in the Florida game, and I doubt that Mosier is still ahead of him considering that Young has played pretty well.

Stooges job is on the line, do you think for a second he cares about anything else ? It's the captains jobs to unite the locker room, play your best players man

Not sure, but I think Boom only had 3 carries in the second half.
Boom played well and so did Snell.

It is probably a case of Benny not being versed in the whole playbook. Using him like a blunt instrument on the defense is easier in the 4th, which coincidentally, is when we need the blunt instrument. You don't have to have command of the playbook front to back to pound the rock on a defense late in the game. Anyway, I'm not sure that we have the whole playbook open with him in the game. Thus, 3rd on the depth chart... for now.

Does it really matter? Who has played more Snell or Kemp? Granted Kemp was banged up 1 game but the coaches clearly don't mind feeding Snell. Besides there have been plenty of games where Kemp saved our butts when we needed power runs the last few seasons.

It doesn't matter as long as the staff plays the people that are better

Quarterback position, with Barker out due to injury:

Johnson - Listed as Dual-Threat, 2-star with 5.4 rating. Other offers from Arkansas State, Eastern Michigan, Hawaii, Lamar and Morgan State.

Hoak - Listed as Pro-Style, 3-star with a 5.5 rating. Other offers from Bowling Green, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Kent State and Toledo.

Johnson will need to continue to play well and grow into the position. Hoak needs to be ready, of course. He's a snap away from being in the game.

Barker - Listed as Pro-Style, 4-star with a 5.9 rating. Other offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisville, Miami (FL), Mississippi, North Carolina, Purdue, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky.

Who said anything negative about Boom? He also had an awesome game. He is just a different style of RB. In the context of the 4th Q, going with Snell was smart.
