is anyone seeing such a significant difference in forecasts in their area between NWS/TWC/EPAWA and AccuWeather?
What I mean is that AW’s forecast is a significant outlier from the others.

Currently, the forecast snowfall for the State College area ranges from:

NWS: around 14-16 inches
TWC: around 20-24 inches
EPAWA: around 16 inches
AW: 4-8 inches

Just curious if anyone else is seeing such a disparity in their forecasts.

One model has us gettin around 21 inches. Local reporters calling for 11-16. Another model has us 15-20. Pretty crazy for here.
My daughter is flying back in tonight from the Dominican Republic. Staying here tonight before driving home to Greenville, SC where they are calling for over an inch of ice. Pretty drastic swing for her.

The weather models (Euro vs NOAA vs. ??) are all struggling with this storm .

Was that the same one over Thanksgiving? It started out as freezing rain for us in Somerset, PA then switched to Thunder Snow and about 24" later and no electricity for 6 days. I remember my sister trying to get ahold of someone at PSU to tell them she couldn't get back in time to Penn State. Terms then and that would probably have been the start of winter term.
Last big one we had in Bmore was ironically enough was this same weekend in 2016. I think we ended up with over 30".
No. January.

Close to 3 ft in Blue Ball. This looks like a serious drifting problem. A little sleet near the end is what I'm hoping for.

Just an update on the Snowmageddon situation with Tgar.

We got up at 4 am to fly from Santiago to Atacama. Made the flight. Massive storms yesterday and again today have flooded various sections of the high dessert.

After a two hour drive to Atacama we have now completed a two hour drive back to the airport serving the region as our hotel is inundated with two feet of mud. It would have been nice to know that detail last night.

We grabbed two seats on the last flight back to Santiago to regroup as we cannot fly home early either given the Blizzard about to start overnight.

Stay safe, stay warm, Vaya con Dios!

tonight, empanadas and Cervezas.

Went out Friday and bought things to eat to ride out the storm . Best things are gone already .

My wife and I went to the food store on Friday evening. We’re set.

I always find it funny when folks flex that they have summerlike weather where they are during big snowstorms. I would be bored with the same weather all year-round. Plus, snow days are the best. :)
Snow days mean I can’t go to the gym. So, no.

I remember it well. On Friday I had to make the trek from Snyder Hall to my first period class at Willard. I was walking through snow that was just below my knees as sidewalks and walkways had not been cleared of snow. I made it back to lunch at Findlay dining hall literally wading through the snow after third period and then they decided to close campus. Sunday I had to dig my car out of the snow in parking lot 83 armed with a combo cafeteria tray-toboggan. Of course the crew to help me arrived when I was just about finished. The snow piles at the edges of parking lot 80 were piled up with large loaders (like those in Gold Rush) were around 20 feet high. Just a crazy time that I will never forget.

Since these wonderful days they have built a lot of buildings blocking those winds all over campus. Thomas building, building on the wood white course, msc building where pollock fields were located Etc
