Memphis and UMass say otherwise. Unless Cal has gotten better at covering his tracks he will eventually get caught if he stays too long.Coach34 said:you can wish for him to get popped by the NCAA- but it's not going to happen. Nike is paying those kids, not Kentucky boosters (for the most part). Not much risk on Cal's part.
And why I hate we didnt go the Payne route
If they can prove (or just think they have enough) that Kentucky players were receiving money then Kentucky's NC is going bye-bye and Kentucky is going to get hit with LOIC faster than you can say "Cal''s a cheating bastard" -- or "We're going to hire one of these three guys. Book it." Which ever one you prefer.Coach34 said:you can wish for him to get popped by the NCAA- but it's not going to happen. Nike is paying those kids, not Kentucky boosters (for the most part). I wouldn't take it that far. Winning a national title under dubious circumstances and then having your program crippled by NCAA sanctions and your name stricken from the record book is not the way I would want to go about it.klerushund said:...the experience of watching your team win a national title. If we ever won one (which we won't), I wouldn't give 2 ***** about sanctions later on.

Can you not comprehend the difference between a nationwide brand like Kentucky having their talent wearing Nike crap and a regional (at best) brand like Mississippi State having their talent wear Nike crap? I'll make it simple for you. There's a return for Nike associating themselves with UK.
That is laughable.Thick said:Interesting to say the least. There's a lot going on there, Antigua was rumored to be going to Duquesne, but if Cal goes maybe he moves to HC and Payne moves to second chair.
I don't doubt the UK players get extra benefits like players get at a lot of places, but that's not why they are flocking to Calipari. Those types of things are pocket change compared to what he's selling. He's selling Derrick Rose's $94MM contract and reported $250MM shoe deal. He's selling Tyreke Evans, Demarcus Cousins, John Wall, etc, etc, etc....
bullysleftnut said:If they can prove (or just think they have enough) that Kentucky players were receiving money then Kentucky's NC is going bye-bye and Kentucky is going to get hit with LOIC faster than you can say "Cal''s a cheating bastard" -- or "We're going to hire one of these three guys. Thank God Stricklin is running our Athletic department and not you, because you'd shaft us for 10 years to have one "successful" season.
I spent 3 of the last 4 weekends traveling around the SE watching UK make its run and had a lot of fun doing it.
klerushund said:...the experience of watching your team win a national title. If we ever won one (which we won't), I wouldn't give 2 ***** about sanctions later on.
