So, does the Ron Higgins article shed some light on

Brandon marcello's negative slant on his blogs? I didn't buy into the whole negative slant thing at first, but it seems to have become noticable in recent weeks. Maybe I'm imagining it bc someone pointed it out to me, or maybe bm just doesn't like Mullen. The Higgins blog and some of his follow up comments seem to support that line of thinking

but I think they don't like that Mullen doesn't do anything to help them do their jobs. They could give a **** about Mississippi State, they just want people to read. If they could break open some sort of scandal they would love it. So more than anything they want access. They want to see every practice and talk to every player. Sure, they would write articles about good stuff but there is not going to be some breakout article about how well Relf is doing in school. What gets these guys to the big time is exposing something like a relationship with a tattoo parlor owner who is giving them weed. I'm not blaming anyone, it's just the way it is.

The only thing I don't understand is the bitching about injuries. HIPPA is a bit fuzzy on this but if I were a coach there is no way I would discuss the health of my players. The only people who REALLY need to know that information is gamblers anyway so I don't understand why any coach would feel compelled to talk about it.

Mullen is candid about himself and how he feels about the team but he shares no information with meat to it and it drives these guys crazy. They did it to themselves though, even Ron Higgins knows that.

'cover' practice showed me what he's all about. Yeah, his takes are increasingly negative. No need to write that Mullen "boasted"and so forth. I'm sure Locke appreciates him though, since he (locke that is) suddenly looks like our best beat writer.

That is freaking scary.

Although I will say that Locke has gotten better. His first year covering State made me want to drive over to the Daily Journal and punch him in the throat everyday. He was relentlessly negative.Of course, I am sure much of Locke's "improvement" probably has more to do with State's recent success. Just not as much to bash anymore.
