I didn't realize that Oregon had actually ''registered"
"Win the day" as a trademark. At least OM has access to Miss'ippi's best lawyers
Oregon officials have registered the phrase "Win the Day" as a trademark with the state but so far have held off on the longer, more costly process of a federal trademark. James, a lifelong Oregon fan, signed over to the university his rights for the logo.
"It is special," James said. "I felt when we presented that really, really confident about it. I really felt that it had the potential to turn into something big. And of course, if the success wasn't there, the phrasing and identity wouldn't be as powerful."

With the Ducks (9-0) ranked No. 1 in the nation this season for the first time in history, "Win the Day" has an attractive sheen. It's also catchy, brief enough to stick with teenage recruits who visit the university-owned site
oregongridiron.com, but universal enough to attract adults seeking business or self-help maxims.
"I think 'Win the Day' kind of resonated with me, because to accomplish stuff, you have to focus on the day," said George Reed of West Linn, who works in medical sales. An Oregon fan, Reed is selling unofficial "Win the Day" bumper stickers at www.oregonyello.com, a site more for fun than profit, he said.
