So going for it on 4th down. Foolish?

If and buts candy, nuts that works both ways. It will forever be a brilliant call, although I was yelling kick it!
glad we didn't now.

the safe play was to take the points. But, FG's haven't been guaranteed for us, even from this distance. I think everybody knew Dak would keep it. If he doesn't make it, then Dan's job might have been the price to pay for the foolish call.

What a game, Bob! What a great game.

Foolish? Where have you been all season?

Obviously, it worked out but if Dak gets stuffed, we probably lose.

Anything to keep the kickers off of the field. We have been calling for it all season, so it is time to put up or shut up.

No. Dan had to show faith in his offense at some point this season. He did it in a huge way. I like it no matter the result. Screw letting the kickers kill us again.

Hahaha. No brainier.

Obviously, it worked out but if Dak gets stuffed, we probably lose.

Better odds at scoring a TD than making a chippy. Was the right call and I (as most same MSU fans) was screaming to go for it.

dak is a legend

Same thought tonight. I figured he'd either showcase his 2 future QB's and young receivers or try to murder Bo, and he did both. I'm sorry, but when you get the short end and draw 1st possession in OT you go for it on 4th & 2 with the 2nd best rushing QB in the conference against one of the worst rushing D's in the same conference... not even mentioning how horrible kicking is.

I would have been pissed either way really, and I realize we're praising the call now but we'd be bitching the call the other way.

Sports!

Not at all. After I up the redzone stats last week, I told my wife the math was on our side just before that play. We've scored 70% of the time in the redzone with Dak. We were 0-1 after the missed FG so the odds were in our favor.

Dak, who had been making plays, went to Mullen on the sideline and told Mullen that he, Dak, could score. Give that man the football.

it was the only call to make; win or lose, I would have been very disappointed had we not gone for it. Our offensive guys were pumped once Dak entered the game; Bears were on their heels.

I agree. I didn't have any confidence at all that either if our kickers would have made a kick from that angle.

A hesitant yes. I put the call up there with Tommy T going for 2 in 1997. If the O couldn't pick up 2 yards, we lose and it all falls back on Dan. Dan had nothing to lose.

But looking at it evenly. On the one hand, it was a hard angle and we all know the kicking woes. On the other hand, TSUN D had been on the field a long time. Dak was the freshest person on the field.

After the previous missed fg, I was fine with it. Oh course if OM had stuffed Dak, I would probably be singing a different tune.

Since plenty of people claim they would've called better plays this season, myself included, I'll admit that I would not have attempted a game tying field goal. I had that little confidence in our kicking. Actually had my head in my hands when I saw the kicking unit come out. I guess I was wrong...

There is no such thing as safe points when it comes to our kicking game. I am 10x more confident in converting a 4th and 2 than I am with kicking a FG from anywhere on the field

Mullen had no choice ...

We were 'out of field goal' range.

(H/T ... someone tweeted this observation right after the game ... think it was Marshall Ramsey)

Our players block harder with Dak in the game, it's very easy to notice. He is a leader in the truest sense of the word.

Our receivers dropped passes all night that hit them in the hands. Then Dak comes in and suddenly they all look like Lynn 17'ing Swann.

How so? We were down 7 with 10 seconds to go on third and goal, and Mullen ran the freaking ball. Time ran out and we lost.

True, but he said so himself multiple times had we scored he was going for two with no hesitation. Admittedly that game has just been burned in my memory because of all the ******** calls. I have to make my bitterness towards Auburn known.
