The big question is does the team and staff think they can beat ASU. Chemistry and attitude can raise you up a notch and that might be enough for 2-0.
I said there's a reality where this is possible. The whole point I'm making is that it's possible for our schedule to break easier and shake out this way. That's what this whole discussion is about, but if you dare break from the State is **** / our SoS is #1 opinion, then people just turn off reading comprehension and think every opinion that isn't agreeing with them is a fight.
There's no true superlatives after week one. But check back in by week 7 and see how you feel. I'm in wait and see mode but I think we've got more of a shot at 6 wins than I thought before last weekend and it had nothing to do how we played.
Yes all of them are questionable. They could all break the other way. To say either way definitively right now is crazy. So if we agree on that then we agree there is a reality where things break for us to have an easier schedule.
I'm also in wait and see mode. If we show we can compete reasonably well with a solid team this week, my attitude will get much rosier and I'll start to look for spots on the SEC schedule where we can pick up a win or two.
So did ASU's. I watched that game & they have issues too. Leavitt was mediocre to below average in the pocket but outside the pocket he was very good.
I honestly believe we have the better QB. Whether we have the players around him to help him show that remains tbd.
Leavitt looked to be a bit more athletic & a little faster but not as good in the pocket as Shapen. We lose contain on him, he'll beat us with his legs.
Also ASU DBs struggled in zone D at times & Shapen picked them apart last year.
If we can put together a complete game like we played the 3rd qtr against USM, we have a good chance.
We may even have the better kicker
Not that I think we will win (but I do think we have a good shot) but preseason rankings are completely worthless

Ok you got me. We were better team than a playoff team that damn near beat Texas. In a game we were down 30-3 when it mattered & we were outgained 415-292.
I’m afraid we already know. Our over under is 3.5 wins for a reason. Saturday was fun, but that was the worst team on our schedule other than Alcorn.

Since you chose the comment in middle of others - refer back to my other comments, read them together, and understand how I'm responding to someone shocked that someone can see where we win six games.

The same suspects always say this at the start of the year, but by week five or six, everyone here becomes SPS cool. All that tells me is that not everyone learns at the same pace.
They appeared to have a very good punter last week. Of course if we're making them punt that's a nice improvement.
