So how do we match up with Kentucky?

I hope Barry can keep up with John Wall.... He can't shut him down, but hopefully he can contain him. I think Demarcus Cousins will do some serious damage inside.

Man, I wish it could go back to the days of old and let the Hump be ELECTRIC.I still have a sour taste in my mouth from that last second lay up against our highly ranked team a few years ago with Dick Vitale and crew on hand

You're not going to stop him from getting by. Just bother him enough that he has to work to get past you. Make him commit to going all the way to the rim, and then let Jarvis help. You have to make him commit to the shot, though, so that he doesn't have time to dump to Cousins or Patterson.<div>

Up until the last week or two I actually thought we matched up with them pretty well. I think you beat Kentucky by keeping them out of the lane and making them shoot jumpers. I thought with our defense and Jarvis that we had a good chance to do that, still do. The only things that have changed my opinion, obviously, is our poor play the last few weeks and the fact that Cousins has improved his play a lot in that same time. I still think we got a chance because of the reasons I stated above, but Cousins is the key.

Gotta mix your defense up, play alot of zone and make them beat you from outside. We don't match up with their size and ability inside, we gotta protect Jarvis from fouls. I also think Kodi has to play more inside as a 4 not as a 2 or 3 which he does way to much. We need to play Osby more, he brings a toughness to the boards plus he can rebound and give us some scoring inside, fact is I hope to see Kodi and Osby in the game as our 3 and 4.
We also need to get the ball inside, at least throw it down there and let our outside guys move to open passing lanes to get good shots. We also can't just come down the floor and put up quick shots, this is the one game we must show some patients with our offense. Gotta keep the game in the 60's to win.
And a real must is we can't let Ky have a second shot after a miss plus as we all know we gotta shoot the ball pretty well to beat them.

It would seem like that would be the way to start off.

UK can kill you in so many ways. If you play man and Wall gets into your defense, he can score or feed their bigs, or they can feed Cousins or Patterson from the wing for one on one post moves. If you don't get back, Wall and Bledsoe throw alley oops to each other. If you play zone, Wall, Bledsoe, and Dodson can shoot you out of it.

While I would love to see us change defenses frequently to try and keep them off balance (straight zone, man, the half court trap maybe twice a half, maybe even full court once or twice if Wall is on the bench) , I guess I would start in the zone and force them to hit threes. Lebo had a pretty decent game plan against them too. Auburn took 20+ seconds off the shot clock almost every possession in the first half in an effort to control tempo. Once they had the tempo where they wanted it, they ran when the opportunity was there.
