So, how do you feel about the players we signed as a whole?

Pretty good. Don't think we hit a home run with recruiting. But I think Mullen can win with these players. I'd grade the class a B+.

I'm in the this class sucks category

We are 13 out of 14 in the SEC. There is no way to spin it. That's bad

When have we consistently been above 10th? My point is, this is the norm for us. Also, I don't buy into something like a class being "better" than ours because they got one more 3 star than we did.

Recruiting is very subjective when looking at these sites. I'm with desoto. I would have liked to get an elite Olinemen but this certainly isn't a bad class. I give it a B-

Do you buy into a class being better than ours when that other program signs MULTIPLE players in the top 100,and we dont sign a single one?

#38 is not good..
Only Mizzo is behind us in the SEC rankings. UK even beat us this year.

Mullen needs to get some better players to S-Vegas.
He does good with what he gets, but just imagine what he could do with better talent.

Since I've moved to ATL, I've been able to watch him and his teammate (former commit) all year long on TV. He honestly never impressed me.

I'm satisfied. Hoping for better next year, but I wouldn't say I'm disappointed at all.

Some people would be mad if we had a Top 15 class just because we'd only be 8th or so in the SEC.

Just win on the field.

I didn't say that. But classes like South Carolina, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kentucky are comparable to ours, but just because they are rated anywhere from 3 or 4 spots in front of us to 19 spots in front of us doesn't necessarily make their class "better"

Between those four schools, Arkansas is the only one to sign a top 100 recruit and they signed one. I'm not going to distinguish their class as better than ours based off of tenths of points as far as average star ratings before the players even step on campus.

You would be a fool to look at a class like Alabama, LSU, or even Ole Miss, and say that their class doesn't have more "potential" than ours... But potential can only go so far.

You could say that for about half of our recruits. I guess we will find out in a couple of years how this class really ranks though

B- In any year, half of the players signed aren't going to every make a meaningful contribution. We have 4 or 5 potential playmakers and a few interesting projects. We needed immediate support on the DL and got that. We missed out on immediate impact on the OL.

Next year's class should average this one out. If we have 9-10 wins, we could be looking at a Top 15 class. Recruits look at the depth chart, so this class won't deter anyone from ambitions of early playing time.

too early to tell

Ask in about 2 years. It takes 2 years to find out about a recruiting class. I remember what an LSU coach said on the radio when asked about their highly rated class. Well we are finding out that half the players are not SEC caliber players.

its a pretty pedestrian class if we are all being honest, BUT, that doesnt mean its a bad class. I wish we had addressed the kicking woes (maybe thats in the works), and i wish we had some freakshows at offensive tackle, but all in all, we mirrored the season....we "survived" recruiting season. things need to pick up next season, and i suspect they will, but the biggest thing i want to impart on my fellow fans is chill the 17 out with all the ole miss ****. let them have their celebration about shepard. they are 5th in sec west recruiting and staring up at the majority of the division just like us.

I like it.

Feel really good about it. There's no way in this world to rationally look at each SEC class and say "well this class is going to be better than that class" (for the most part). There's so much that can happen between now and when/if these recruits take a snap in college. With that said, and considering I'm pleased with the way our coaching staff seems to develop players, again, I like this class and think we've got some solid contributors for the future.

I give it a B+ and I do like the players that we brought in. I have watched a lot of the MS players in person versus some of the other Dandy Dozen and top rated players in the state. I think our guys stack up very well even though some have slightly lower 247 or ESPN star ratings. I also believe we recruited key positions pretty well with the OL being the question mark. OL is one of the most difficult developmental positions to evaluate so some of these guys may develop and some may not. Even the guys at Bama and LSU are a toss up when it comes to who will become a key contributor. Granted, grabbing a 5 star OL would indicate a better chance at that kid contributing. However 3's and 4's are guesses, particularly on the OL. Size is good, but technique matters more and more at the higher college levels. Who has untapped potential as far as technique, will absorb the instruction, and have the work ethic to become productive? Time will tell. I follow recruiting and seen a third of these guys play in person. I think we have a very good class. The one concern I have is how several of them will recover from their injuries. Will they lose speed and/or quickness. Time will tell.

Hard to judge a class. We got the best RB in the State/top 10 in the country. 2 qb's that fit our system to a T. And the next KJ Wright in Gerri Green. Plus Graham and Jackson. Every class only has a few difference makers. These guys are difference makers.

I have never seen a single one of these individuals play football. According to websites that somehow make money stalking teenagers, we could have done better. I will bet my paycheck though that some of them will exceed expectations and some of them will not live up to them. Until they are actually playing football at Scott field, I'm not even going to worry about learning their names.

To put our class into perspective, MSU picked up three, (using Scout-sue me) 4 stars, fifteen 3 stars and five 2 stars. Bama had seven 5 stars, fourteen 4 stars and five 3 stars. Bama graded out at 1 and MSU placed anywhere form 38-41.

The disparity is mind "bottling". If Mullen doesn't start getting more talent on the field, I don't see that we will ever get out of the SEC cellar.

But we went to the liberty bowl. That is good enough for a large portion of our fans. Would you quit aspiring to do better and accept mediocrity for God's sake? What is wrong with you!?

I feel good about this class our roster and where our program is headed. With

that said we need to recruit better and we have to hold ourselves accountable to do better in the future. I still believe having the right kids, coaches, and chemistry trumps pure talent. I've seen it over and over, teams win games not a bunch of highly ranked individuals. But let's remember those teams have to have enough basic talent to compete and then win on the intangibles. I think Mullen does pretty good on spotting guys that fit and then making them better and keeping them in the program. Our attrition rate is probably the best it has ever been which makes a difference. Attrition is what has kept us basically even with Ole Miss while they have recruited more highly rated talent. We have hung onto our guys better and developed them better. Freeze strikes me as a guy that is going to be pretty good with attrition over the long run so we again are gonna have to recruit better. The jury is still out on how good Freeze is a developing kids, we will see.

If you are going to use bama as the measuring board, you are going to be disappointed every year. It wouldn't matter if Jesus himself was our coach. Bama is pulling in some of the best classes of all time.

I give it an incomplete. Will let you know in 2-3 years after judging it on the field for myself. I messed up and jumped the gun on judging the 2011 class before(really since the day it was signed) -- am learning a lesson from it -- and won't be doing it again. In hindsight, I could easily make the case that there were 10-11 4* talents in that class -- when it didn't have a single unanimous 4* across sites.

I am hopeful. Obviously, getting another "can't miss" guy would have helped, but we still have a solid group.

I think we have a staff that knows what they are doing and I trust that we can turn some of these "diamond in the rough" players into hard-working manimals that are committed to winning a championship. One thing our staff can do is spot talent.

They may not always get the highest rated guys into the program, but the guys that come out of the program are always ready for the next level. We have been consistently putting people into the league, while going bowling (and winning) since Dan got here.

I am excited to see Brandon Bryant on the field. I would love to see him returning punts/kicks. Nick Fitzgerald is another one I want to see in action. I'm honestly just glad signing day is over with and we can move on and look forward to summer camps, two-a-days and the season.
