He fired a pretty good coach 2 months ago. Since then lots of jobs have come open & been filled. Most of the perceived top targets have been taken or signed extensions at their current school. Meanwhile it’s almost signing day & the coach you fired is taking most of your top recruits. This is how you don’t handle a coaching change.

There was not a better candidate for an opening than James Franklin (including Kiffin, in my opinion). Virginia Tech will be on the rise and in playoff contention very soon in a weak ACC.

Dumbest firing in history. Guy was in the Final Four of college football less than a year ago.

Only thing I could think of to this point is he had an agreement w/ a sitting coach who wanted to finish out the season but now that its dragged on a couple extra days I don't know. It's not looking great every day it goes on though

Aren’t they hiring the fighting Mormons coach?
They're talking, but I think BYU is making a big push to keep him. Sitake is a former BYU player and is Mormon, so it's going to take a lot for him to leave BYU. He's basically spent his entire career in the state of Utah. It would be an extremely strange hire. I would think Sitake would fit in at Penn State about as well as Brian Kelly fit in at LSU.

Yes I was wondering how he would do in recruiting non Mormons. Would be much different

I wonder how difficult it is in the transfer portal for BYU to bring in players. I imagine it’s more difficult. He might like the idea of buying any player he wants at Penn State and not having to explain the Mormon part of the university to them.

Who would that even be though? Granted Kiffin and Franklin sucked a lot of air out of the room, but who are the hot names at this point? What names were people shocked didn't get consideration for Florida and Auburn (both of whom hired coaches that seem to be much less of a sure thing than Franklin). Is there a reasonably available target out there that people won't think is a significant downgrade?

You know what's been really odd to me throughout this whole coaching carousel? Out of all the disastrous contracts that were signed and that are now being bought out, only 1 AD (I think) has been fired.

It makes me wonder if it's only because so many of them really are little more than puppets for the big boosters these days, and the cigar smokers don't want to get rid of the guy that they know will do their bidding.

I don’t know what BYU is putting toward football/NIL, but I feel like BYU has a lot of money it could put toward it. May have to pay a premium to get certain players to accept all the rules there though

I thought Sitake told them hell no. Aren't they interviewing Daboll? Kinda between him and the interim Smith.

They’re pretty loose with those rules for football players. Jim McMahon lasted 4 years there with no problem.

Crumbl Cookies kinda suck, and are definitely over priced. I was gifted a couple and was really disappointed.

Give me Insomnia Cookies any time. I got a freebie at Sugar Shane's as well and it was pretty good.

They are idiots they fired a play off coach. Who did they think they were going to get? Sitake couldn't have been first choice Franklin is better. Did they really think they were gonna get deboer? Not a lot of big guys wanting to leave, now they are saying maybe brohm?

the thing about Oregon losing both coordinators I wonder if Lanning might think about leaving Oregon now.

Where did the DC go? Must have missed that.
