against a team we humiliated, and in a game where his team put up 6 points in the second half. Yet, there is nary a peep out of anyone on here about it. Interesting.

Yea, I hate the Hudspeth threads, and I'm being hippocritical by starting this one. But screw it. If ULL would have dominated Troy there would have been 5 topics hailing Hudspeth. It just shows the idiocy of our fans. Will only point out the negatives of Dan and only the positives of Mark. I'm sorry this game doesn't improve the "Fire Dan, Hire Hud" agenda. Now I'll hang up and listen. Blast away.

You realize

that was Sun Belt vs. Sun Belt, whereas we are an SEC team right?

You can't have it both ways, Cadaver. But I know your post was sarcasm. Either they both get credit for winning, or they both get reprimanded for letting inferior teams play with them. Either way, I've stated my views on the whole debate, so I will back away.

And seb304, in my whole post, the one thing you took out of it was the comment about us humiliating them? Just take that comment out, and reread. The point is still made.

By squeaking by one of the Better teams in the sunbelt, HUD is now on the longest winning streak since 1976 at UL and in one more game he will break that one too. So yes, claim that big win over Troy in Starkville. Hell theres the signature win, but it's just the 7th w in a row for HUD and noone in lafayette gives a damn about that game anymore and are eyeing the championship. Unfortunately for the legion of mediocrity, it's brought up like we really accomplished something that day. Also the Cajuns had four days to prepare.

You are in the sec. Find something better than a win over Troy.

I made a homophone mistake last week. It happens. But it's funny when it does.

I agree with you for the most part. I like Hud, but he's the grass-is-greener panacea right now.

The ULL defense has been horrible in the past 2 -- after having pretty dominant performances at Western Ky and Arky St. Very mediocre offensively in the second half tonight and all night defensively.

I thought this year's Troy game was Mullen's best, most complete game since at least the Auburn game in 2012. That's not a great Troy team -- but they are dangerous as hell offensively -- and we shut them down.

It's amazing to me in trying to make a point to suit an agenda just how quickly people forget about the rabbit we pulled out of our hat to beat this very same Troy team just last year with an MSU team that was just as good or better than the one we've got this year. That's probably why the vast majority of the pro-Mullen crowd saw fit to just drop it and call a win a win -- in the same way the HUD crowd saw it as a letdown game they were happy to escape with.

I would love to squeak by a 3-2 at the time SEC team and move to 4-0 in conference.

I think there were a total of 3 new threads started all last night with all the football being played. Don't read too much into it.

I'll assume that you didn't see any of the game. ULL scored 6 (failed 2pt) and Troy scored 10 in the second half. But ULL scored 35 in the first half and Troy scored 26. ULL held them on first-n-goal at around 3:00 left in the game. They could have easily lost. For those expecting a blowout, it may have been a letdown. But it was just a slug-fest to everyone else.

This game practically guarantees ULL 10 wins and an undefeated conference schedule, if that still means anything.

So are you saying we would dominate the Sun Belt Conference? Because I kind of think we could too. Well..probably.

When you're right, you're right, and it doesn't hurt at all to point it out.
I'd like to see Mullens make an improvements in his assistants -- also talked about numerous times. I hear Tim Teeeeee-bow might be in the mkt for a job. I think he would make a great QB coach for the spread-option, and with Dak at the helm, he could learn a lot from the Heisman winner. A hire like that would re-energize the Bulldog Nation, and would very likely improve our offensive productivity, and just might instill the take-no-prisoners attitude that our teams just don't have.

If ULL had struggled with Elon Univ you might have something. Because that is probably the equivalent of MSU playing Troy. But an SEC team playing Troy vs ULL playing Troy, no comparison.

Shaking the staff up a bit might help. There's a lot to be said for continuity and stability as long as everything's going good. When there are areas thtat need improvement, Dan has to do it. He did it on defense last year, so that shows that he will do it if he believes it needs to be done. He's paid well to make those kind of decisions.

ah-yup!

I'm thinking Tebow might even teach Les a thing or two about calling plays for Dan's offense.

I agree with you. I think it's was talked about in another post but if changes need to be made I hope they leave the defense side alone this year. There needs to be a year of stability on that side of the ball. Offense is where I would look to shake things up. At let the powers that be know that the staff salary will need to take a significant jump up as well.

Troy has one of the worst defenses in the FBS. That's why our very mediocre at best offense scored over 60 on them. Hud's offense only putting up 40 is kinda sad.

He's 22nd in scoring offense. We're #70.

How can anyone call him putting up 40 "sad" -- when we only put up 30 against a 5-7 Troy team just last year.

what is it that y'all don't get. MSU-SEC---ULL-Sunbelt. Hud , has Sun Belt, facilities, money and Players. Dan has SEC facilities, Money and Players. Apples to Oranges. Hud is whipping His fellow Sunbelt teams at an alarming rate and Dan, is squeeking by Ky.

So we have to consider he coaches a sun belt team playing another sun belt team when it's about winning the game, but when it's pointing out that he is 22nd in scoring offense, is playing that same sun belt schedule ignored?

How about struggling w/ 1-7 N. Mexico State this year (ranked 123rd this week), the fighting Huds were down to them 21-7 end of 1st Q and 28-14 @ half and 28-27 end of 3? They came back and won but that's turrible to be down to those guys.........

35 games at the FBS level - Held under 20 points once in his career. Put up 34 and 24 the 2 seasons prior against the OK State team that held us to 3. Has scored 30+ in 25 of 35 career games.

If playing in the Sun Belt was so easy relatively speaking, there would be more than 2 teams in the top 35 in scoring offense. Kinda like how the SEC has 4 in the top 15...

Bottom line is -- all things equal in that conference -- his scoring offense is 4ppg better than everyone else.

After barely beating Troy last year I saw Jack Cristil at the grocery store. I said Hey Jack that was an ugly game yesterday. He grunted and said the only thing that matters is it's a W in the win column and walked off to get a pack of smokes.

Are you going to leave out how many points Oklahoma State scored in those games? Something tells me when a team scores 61 and 65 they're not worried about giving up 34 and 24. We only gave up 21, but I'm not sure how this years OSU team is relevant to their 2011 and 2012 teams, and them having a new dcoordinator this year.

Anyway, I'm not trying to stick up for our performance this season so far, but forgive me if I'm not ready to jump on the Mark Hudspeth Nut Hugging Train that seems to be running full steam ahead on this message board.

One of the better teams in the conference. Fifth place. I stand by my statement. Hell if y'all can argue that we are relevant at twelfth how come Troy isn't at 5th. Don't even answer. Cause you're gonna be wrong.

That's fair enough. What could he possibly do to "sell" you on him beyond what he's already done?

That's the thing, I'm not looking to be sold to at this point. I want to see how the next 4 games play out. If we continue to look like we have in the 2nd half of these games, and get beat at home on Thanksgiving, I will be much more interested in a new purchase. We're not going to fire anyone at this point in the season, so I just don't really understand what good any of the push to hire HUD talk does right now. I feel like the group of fans clamoring for him at this point are setting themselves up for disappoinment.

I just see it is preeminence of what "we" expect to happen here at the end and how we'd like to go if/when that transpires. Mullen certainly still has time to change our minds.

Troy was losing to winless Georgia State in the 4th quarter. They are NOT one of the "better teams" in the conference. Georgia State is BOTTOM FIVE, one of the worst teams in FBS.
