So.... is it still statistically possible?

Can State win the West? Statistically? I know it's not probable. Heck, we could lose every SEC game from here on out. But, what statistically must happen for us to get on top?

Win out and have Bama win out and LSU and Auburn wind up with 3 losses is the only way I see it. So don't reserve your hotel room just yet.

Damn man, have fun with it. I called 8 wins at the start of the season, and I still think that's what we end up with. But the fact we're 7 games into the season and are still statistically in it, well, we haven't had that in a decade. Enjoy it while it's there. It may be another decade before it comes back again.

by the two undefeated tems in the west, we would have to win out and both Auburn and LSU both lose 3 in conference

If we win out, Auburn goes undefeated and LSU loses to Auburn, Alabama and Arkansas we are second in the SEC and Sugar Bowl bound assuming Auburn is headed to the BCS championship game. It will never happen but that's the absolute best we can do.

If we beat Alabama and Alabama also finishes with 2 losses (as does either LSU or Auburn) we would go to a tiebraker--I think based on highest AP rank.

a Black Bear kinda west crown, that is one that you hang a banner without going to Atlanta because both Auburn and LSU would hold the Head to Head tiebreaker against us.

and second, I think a three-way tie would shake out before it got to the voters. We'd get knocked out by having a worse record in the West (3-2) than Bama (4-1) and possibly LSU or Auburn.

But if Bama beats both LSU and Auburn, and we win out, we can win the west outright if Auburn and LSU lose out. In fact, the loser of Auburn/LSU can win one more SEC game and everyone's 5-3 with State being 6-2. Is this right?

with LSU, AU and Bama ahead of us. Anything is possible I guess, but my dreams are a little more realistic than that. At least for this year. ;)

essentially the same thing I said in another way. Anyway you say it Auburn and LSU have to have 3 losses and we have to win out. We would win the tiebreaker against Bammer in this scenariofor having beaten them head to head.

The second tiebreaker is record within the division, which we would lose to Bama. if Bama is not in the picture and it's us and LSU and AU with 2 losses, then we lose on the first tiebreaker, head to head.

so we could only go if LSU and AU both finish with 3 SEC losses.

If both of them hand Auburn and LSU losses, and whoever wins the LSU/Auburn game gets another loss, then we control our own destiny. That being said, that would mean the season would go down to the final week.
