I'm not disagreeing, but I have a overall view of how I think college football SHOULD be. Of course, no one agrees because they are all out for the dollar, which is OK too I suppose, to an extent.
I think rivalry weekend is about TRUE rivalries, #1 rivalries. MSU/Ole Miss, Auburn/Alabama, etc. Some people don't have one, like LSU, Arkansas, Missouri. Texas/Texas A&M is each other's rival, period, shows even more now. Kentucky should be playing Louisville, Tennessee should be playing Vanderbilt that weekend. There are certain situations, like tOSU/Michigan, that prevents them from playing instate games, but you get my point.
I'd rather see LSU/Arkansas over LSU/TAM just because TAM has a rival already. Personally, I'd rather see Arky/Mizzou or Arky/Arky State. LSU I guess should be playing Tulane in the Superdome and have a cajunfest or something.
There are many other games like Iowa State/Iowa, KU/KState, etc. that aren't played on rivalry weekend but should be. It would just add a completely different dimension to that weekend if it ran all throughout the country. Secondary rivalry games can be played whenever you want....Ole Miss/LSU on Halloween, Alabama/Tennessee on 3rd Saturday in October, USC/Notre Dame (whenever they play), etc. But USC should be playing UCLA on the last weekend, period.
3rd tier rivalries can be played opening weekend, like MSU and USM, or Arkansas and Arkansas State (assuming Arky plays Mizzou on rivalry weekend. Or even LSU/Tulane then. There are many different ways to make college football kick *** but aren't being done. At the end of the day, don't **** with NATURAL TRADITION.
