So let me get this straight about Wardlaw

This dickhead had a fiasco with the old BDJ-to-Yahoo platform, ripped people off for $200 for a "lifetime" membership that you can basically get for $30 now, and is now dragging other Mississippi State fansite owner's into the mix with this NCAA investigation? Folks, this guy is a leach and is sucking your money out of your pockets. What he posts/reports is for the most part- untrue. He is exploiting "his" school for a profit and trying to damage the reputations of some very good boosters and other people who are involved with MS State Athletics...all in the name of making a buck.

I would recommend abandoning this *** jockey and his site.

I think Wardlaw did a great thing.

Some people needed to get ripped off so they could re-evaluate why they are paying some dude with a website to give them information about 18 year old football players. Not information from people who evaluate talent and coach talent for a living. Information from a guy with a website, who wants your money. Oh, but you are paying for insider info about the program? No you're not. You're paying a guy who wants your money to go to a press conference and to occasionally make some vague **** up to keep you interested.

I'm assuming this is why Paul Jones made that post on 247 yesterday?

I agree with most of this, but in my personal case on 247, you get weekly articles by The Kang and now Smoot Smack, along with interviews with coaches and players that are much more detailed than anything the papers put out. I don't depend on that message board for info, but do enjoy the board. It's a nice fringe benefit to articles and interviews. I would probably pay $10 month just to read Smoot's weekly thoughts and analysis. That's just me though.

What else would you expect, with his family history of pirates?

Depends on what the subscription is worth to someone. I mostly agree with you about the Rivals and Scout sites. But from what I've heard the 24/7 site could actually be worthwhile for some people.

Not to mention him and Rosebowl are working overtime to make sure this NCAA thing drags out as long as possible.

Personally I just like to support at least one MSU writer. 10 bucks a month isnt going to kill me and I can show support to Paul or whoever.

Does he write for MSU?

Or just about MSU? I know he writes about MSU, but maybe the athletic department pays him for stuff that I don't know about. If you like his content, more power to you I guess. But to think paying these guys shows any support for MSU or MSU affilates is laughable. You support 247.

I like 247. I just don't like Wardlaw (or any other fan site) trying to exploit "his" University in support of his own agenda, ie. money. I know this is his job to support himself and whoever else (maybe his lover Gene) but there is a line to be crossed and he has crossed that line.

Pretty sure Rosebowl has spilled the beans on players we have recruited and wanted to keep quiet from other schools. I don't know why anybody at MSU talks to him.

I'm sick and tired of the assclowns Wardlaw and Rosebowl exploiting our school just to line their pockets. They don't care about our school just their egos. Those two idiots need to disappear. Everyone needs to stop feeding these idiots money, info, or anything else.

Wardlaw and Rosebowl if you read....which I know you do because your egos can't stand not knowing what is being said about you....YOU ARE NOT JOURNALISTS!!! You run fan message board sites! Albeit ****** ones. Stop acting like you guys are pros and be fans which is what you are. Go away assclowns.

How is he sucking money from anyone? Most people are lifetime members. I personally paid the guy $100 and have gotten 2 years of whatever coverage BDJ has provided, and 1 year of Rivals. He's certainly sucked a lot less than 247 or Scout would have over the last 2-3 years.

I understand him not having any credibility left, but can't complain about him taking my money & running.

I can envision a day where schools are going to not issue media credentials to websites that engage in any form of recruiting business. A fan site that only covers State is one thing, a fans site that also dabbles in recruiting is something else.

If what I think happened in this specific NCAA case is actually what happned I think you'll see this happen a lot sooner than people think.

I don't know why everyone is all of a sudden up in arms about Michael. Whatever it is, he must be doing it behind the scenes (or people are just making it up) because he's said NOTHING on his website or in his chats other than what is already public knowledge and found on every other newspaper that covers MSU. I have no idea what Paul posted on his site as I don't have a membership over there.

The only "leaked" information I have gotten has been from this site, should we start lambasting dawgstudent for running a site that is trying to bring down MSU?

I've seen all MW's chats/posts on the subject along with Paul's post. Neither has said anything about the other. It's posters saying it..

On the other hand, if these sites are effectively controlled (in terms of the information they are fed) by the AD/Coaches, they serve as a propoganda mechanism. Catch 22, you might say.

The bottom line is that it's become SPS cool to hate and blast Wardlaw. And frankly, he's an easy target. But you're right, I haven't seen anything said that hasn't been reported elsewhere or posted here. And I highly doubt if there were much to this Matt Wyatt would have Wardlaw on his show spilling the beans. Hell, Wyatt's an employee of the University. The mob mentality here is ridiculous.

I agree 100%. It's one thing to have a reporter that contacts a recruit and interviews him, but these guys are building closer relationships with the recruits than our coaches are. They call / text these guys constantly. In my opinion, the sooner the NCAA rules that these "recruiting" sites can't have media access to the schools or coaches, the better. But it all comes down to $$. These sites are making major bucks and the NCAA isn't going to worry with them anytime soon. It would have to be an individual school policy.

Wrong. Wardlaw got on Head To Head radio and yelled the sky was falling. Said that MSU is in major trouble, major penalties are coming, yada yada yada. He made the situation look 100 times worse than it really is.

When you consider that these sites manipulate the recruits ratings based off weather or not Bama offers them, the argument can be made that they steer recruits towards programs that will give them an additional star.

Two weeks ago, people on here were saying what a great deal the $30 lifetime was...

they were also saying it showed desperation. Then he tried to sensationalize his content which adds even more credance to his site failing.

Question:

Do you think that they have had more traffic on their websites during this fiasco or less as compared to a regular day? I would bet they have had way more traffic. Therefore, they are being rewarded for their actions. As much as I hate it, they are doing what makes sense for their business.

Until people stop supporting what they do it won't change and it shouldn't.

Please tell me how Paul is internet cowboy. Internet cowboy is in reference to the message board hero that took it upon himself to help MSU in recruiting and screwed it up.

The thing that kills me about this wardlaw/rosebowl

thing is that their members (wardlaw's especially) were and have been raising holy hell wanting to know who did it and what did they do. If it comes down to me being in the dark and hopefully limiting damage to MSU vs. me knowing everything which means every other son of a ***** that wants to take us down knows it as well, then I'll take being in the dark. I don't understand the mentality of some of these people.

Except for the 100 times he mentioned "internet cowboy"

and how exactly is that implicating a person or site? Sounds like people are circling their wagons around some "internet cowboy" that is well liked. It's been pointed out more than once but if this was someone like JShort no one would care who was reporting it.

I wouldn't say that has been exclusive to those two sites.

I feel about a good MSU football team the way I feel about sausge. I like it, and the less I know about how it was made, the better. The fans that are fanning these flames, dying to know what we did wrong, if anything, are ******* idiots.

If we did something wrong, we'll find out soon enough. Until then, just shut the **** up and and enjoy the games.

The difference with how BDJ and 247 initially handled the situation:

BDJ said: We know something, but we can't tell you

247 said: ......

It created two distinctly different environments.

and Wardlaw has worked hard to make sure people know just where that "internet cowboy" was affiliated- NCAA investigation be damned

I agree and I think what you meant to say was that...

BDJ said: "we have scoop, and we're going to raise doubt and suspicion over our own school so you'll keep paying us for the scoop"
