So Mississippi put out a press release...

saying they are sold out of football season tickets. The kicker is the tickets aren't on sale yet. They put this out on the assumption that everyone renews.

Good idea but still funny.

Can't say I blame them for trying. I bet attendance will most likely be pretty poor by end of season.

ETA: I must have confused their schedule for someone else. They will still probably get to 6-7 wins next year, so attendance may still be good.

Single game tickets were basically not available last year, so they're putting pressure on people to renew if they want tickets while trying to create a waiting list to fill the spots that don't renew.

Usually we'd wait until later to even start making a push for season ticket sales. Boone must actually have some halfway forward thinking people working for him these days.

How was attendance at MSU throughout the year? I would imagine that the good home schedule and wrapping up the year with the Egg Bowl kept people coming.

</h4>_________________________________________________<div class="messagebody">OXFORD, Miss. --With only 2009 football season ticket holders guaranteed seats for the upcoming campaign, Ole Miss fans are encouraged to act now and get on the waiting list for season tickets for 2010 and beyond.

Ole Miss sold out of season tickets in 2009 with a school-record 51,000 season tickets. The athletics ticket office was forced to refund over 2,500 ticket orders.

Season ticket renewal forms will be mailed out March 1 and the deadline to renew is April 30. Fans that do not renew their tickets will lose their seats for 2010 and future seasons, which feature countless nationally-ranked programs coming to Oxford.

New season ticket customers or persons wishing to add to their existing order should get on the waiting list by visiting OleMissSports.com or by calling the ticket office at 1-888-732-8587.

A deposit of $50 per ticket for North Endzone seats or $75 for all other stadium sections will ensure any season tickets that become available after April 30. The deposit will apply toward the ticket cost, but will be refunded in the event the order cannot be filled.

In the first two seasons under head coach Houston Nutt, the Rebels have reversed their fortunes and experienced success unparalleled in Oxford in 40 years. Ole Miss has posted consecutive nine-win records for the first time since 1961-62 and back-to-back January bowl victories for the first time since 1960-61.

Those that only see the headline and/or halfass read the article, are buying into the manufactured hype. Good marketing, especially considering the poor home schedule and preseason reality check.

when you graduated half of your starters, including one of the most explosive players in SEC history, you're starting a new quarterback, and you have Vandy and UK at home instead of Alabama and LSU?!?

This season just sells itself!

is just stupid. Almost as stupid as nutt's failure to use his tiny *** for the first 6 games. He was explosive. F, just go back and watch his micro *** run away from every defender on that long run in the EB to close the gap back to 7.

No way in hell anyone on that lack luster team comes even close to being in the same league as those guys. Hell JJ Johnson was more explosive then anyone on this past season's Ole Miss team.

Bo Jackson holds the SEC record at 6.6 yards per carry. Herschel Walker "only" averaged 5.3 ypc. So yeah, I'd say McCluster was one explosive mother-17-er. I know he terrified me every time he touched the ball in the Egg Bowl.

is probably similar to yours with one key phrase added:

"Any player that didn't play for Ole Miss who is a threat for a huge play every timehe touchesthe ball."

Didn't watch Bo in college, and McCluster obviuosly wasn't easy to tackle for a loss, but I'm guessing if a physical freak like bo jackson averaged 6.6 yds/carry and a mighty mouse like McCluster averaged 6.5, that Jackson had a lot more grind it out 3 to 5 yard runs in his total that McCluster couldn't make, meaningMcCluster would have had to rely on more long runs to keep his average close. Purely guessing, but if that's close to true, it kind of makes McCluster seem explosive.

is don't try to play a Tampa Two defense against Dexter McCluster.

Did anyone else notice that Snead had zero TD passes and only 133 yards passing with an INT and they STILL put up 42 points? Scary.

And yes, explosive.
