So now the Bears are hyping our SEC opponents combined records. Let's see....

Up until this year, it was Mullen hasn't beat a West team not named Ole Miss. Now it's our opponent's combined records. Literally, do they take time out of their daily routine to research this stuff? What's next? We haven't beaten anyone who's wears green uniforms? It's hilarious. But since some of us can look at this thing fairly, let's be realistic. When schedules are rotated, aside from your permanent, there is zero way to know who gets advantage and who doesn't. Do we catch a break having UK as ours? Sure we do. But you've got Vandy so it evens more times than not. Who knew Florida would be in this spot so soon? Who knew this time last year Arkansas's coach was slamming a coed? Who knew that in 4 years, Gomer Pyle still can't make Tennessee what they have the potential to be? Who knew the Barn's top 10 classes the past 3 years couldn't even get them past, well,...you guys. Oxford is the one place in America that will require more counselors next week than Tuscaloosa ever thought about if we were to pull the unthinkable.

That should be 0-5 for them. By my count they've only won one SEC game against a team that has won none.

It's

hilarious how the nafoomers will go to any length possible to downplay mullens!!1 They just keep changing the criteria to which they base him being a terrible coach on, after he breaks each prior "benchmark" that they set. It's also hilarious how, during their cotton bowl years, they played a pretty ridic schedule. I like how the thread on nafoom to which you are referring mentions the combined records of the SEC teams and then when someone mentions UA's wins are against combined 1-10 teams in the league, it switches to Michigan (nonconf). It just goes to show that the argument to why we suck only applies to us. As soon as someone offers evidence to the contrary, it changes the argument to something else.

We can play that game too

Here are the records of the teams that they have beaten that are I-A teams.

Tulane- 1-6 Beat SMU.
UTEP- 2-5 wins over New Mexico State and Tulane.
Auburn- 1-6 Upset win over Louisiana-Monroe.

OK- so Central Arkansas is 6-2, but they're a freaking I-AA team.

On our schedule, Tennessee has one less win than the I-A opponents for Ole Miss at 3-4. Meanwhile, Troy and Middle Tennessee are both 4-3 and possible bowl teams depending on how they finish the season out and MTSU has a win over Georgia Tech on the road. South Alabama is 2-5 as a first year program. Meanwhile Jackson State is 4-4 and has a legit chance to win the SWAC Eastern division. And yes, they are a freaking I-AA team. Auburn is 1-6, but we were playing them before they quit- and let's face it- we were THE team that made them quit. Kentucky is 1-7, but we played them on the road.

It just goes to show that the argument to why we suck.......

Nobody said MSU sucks. I think y'all are good and will finish 9-3 with a chance at 10-2. I just think it's amazing that any SEC team in any year has managed to go into late Oct without really playing anyone. I realize that MSU plays the conference schedule as set out by the SEC and that your last 5 games are a tough stretch. My only point is it's very rare for any SEC team to go this long before playing a "tough" opponent. And to Mullen's credit, MSU hasn't slipped up and is playing good football. I do think TN is a decent win and is probably a better team than they showed last night.

with all due respect, why be concerned about what they think. What they think doesn't matter.

They also don't want any recruit that signs with us.....

....so what? Haven't you learned about their ******** by now. I think it takes an MSU fan until about 40 years old before they truly see what's going on.

winner winner chicken dinner... They are our rival and most will not admit that Mullen is a good coach so no need to worry with them 17ers. Our team believes in Mullen and we believe in Mullen. That's all that matters. Funny thing is we are watching Mullen grow as a coach this year. I think he has done a superb job of eliminating the WTF was Mullen thinking on that play calling and decisions in general.

In Mullen We Trust.

If they were 7-0 right now, I would be doing the same thing....

..If OM was 7-0 right now, I would be using ever trick in my arsenal to try to discredit them. All I know is MSU could go 0-5 down the stretch & still get a Liberty Bowl bid. Meanwhile, they have to hope they catch some teams having a bad day just to reach 6 wins. From here on out while they are hoping they can slip up somebody, meanwhile, each new win just pads our bowl resume. 7-0 must sting for them. The biggest Bama fans in the nation Sat. will not be in Tuscaloosa. They will be in Oxford.

We all said this last spring when the schedule got finalized. We were looking at a pretty decent shot at starting 7-0. We just didn't know Auburn was going to this bad. And even though Tennessee is 0-4, let's not act they are a bad team. They will more than likely end up 3-5 with now a decent shot of beating South Carolina to be 8-4(4-4).

Edit to add this thread on NAFOOM - http://nafoom.yuku.com/sreply/311022/State-has-2-iffy-games-in-their-first-7

My favorite:

You just went 6-6. Its borderline insane to think you'd win 7 of your first 7 next year.

Although in his defense, if you would told me Ole Miss was going to be 4-3 7 games in - I would have laughed as well.

Alabama is 7-0 against opponents with a combined record of 24-25. State is 7-0 against opponents with a combined record of 19-32. Throwing out SEC play (because you can't do anything about the SEC schedule set for you) Alabama's opponents are 11-10 and State's are 14-15. The large disparity is us having played Auburn and Kentucky.

We have also started every SEC season with LSU, Auburn, or Sourh Carolina. Numerous ill placed Thursday night games. And we suffered 5 years of Crooms inept offense. I'll take a front loaded cream puff SEC schedule any day of the week.

From an article mentioned in another post ...................

Turns out – who knew? – the Ducks have more victories over FBS-level teams with a winning record (four) than Alabama or Kansas State (three each).

And although Florida also has beaten four opponents with winning records, the stat was augmented by Oregon's average points per game (47.8), better than Florida (26.3), Kansas State (35.3) or Alabama (36.3).
Which is only to say: Political campaigns have nothing on the spin that swirls during college football's silly season.

They will always try to discredit us. They've won 13 SEC games since 2005. They won 8 of those in 08 and 09. They would also have everyone think those two seasons were better than our 2010 season. And they play Vandy every year. Kentucky has only recently become an easier game. Mullen has won 12 SEC games in 3+ years, and they won't admit he's even a decent coach. Delusional.
