so predicting us in a bowl is a positive. Phil throws so many numbers out there he's right a lot of times....but he's also wrong a lot of times. I usually by his magazine because overall he's going to be close.

7-0 or 6-1. If we do nothing else after that the guy is spot on. I personally think we can get one or two more wins towards the end of the season. So I guess my question is, has an 8 or 9 win SEC team ever played in the Liberty Bowl?

But if there ever is an 8 or 9 win SEC team in the Liberty Bowl, it will be Mississippi State.<div>
</div><div>Hell, the year we went to the Gator Bowl, Slive had to basically beg the Gator to take us at 8-4 over a 6-6 Tennessee team. We would have slipped to the Liberty then.</div>

yes.
However, if that's the result of an 8 win seasonwith losses to Bama, LSU, Arkansas, and Tennessee while the Music City doesn't want us for a second year in a row, plus USC and UF have 9 wins apiece, I don't think we could complain.

and an sec team fail to make the title game (although cbs has lsu in the title game and you in birmingham, which would also suck). I don't see either of those happened but you could end the year w/ 0 quality wins considering your schedule.

TCU plays defense. That is something that the Big 12 has forgotten how to do and until you play defense you are not going to win the NC.</p>

from last years team. We're gonna at least kick off 7 straight or go 6-1 to start the year. I can FOR SURE see us beating aTm & the bears and I see us beating arky this year at home too. So to make the Liberty Bowl after that? That's some *****-berry pie there compadres!

Pardon me if I fail to give his opinion any credit, considering our league has won the title 6 years in a row. And that we had the #1, #2, and #3 teams in the nation in our DIVISION at one point last season. As others have said, we should win a minimum of 7-8 games with a real chance of winning 9-10. I'd be shocked if we don't get a better bowl than the Liberty. And I'd be pissed if we do wind up there. Seriously, the guy is a 17ing idiot if he thinks no SEC team will play for the title and we're Liberty Bowl bound. I think we could finish as high as 3rd in the West, 5th at worst.

I'd like to say that we should be able to take Florida, UT, or SC's place but in order to do that, we're going to have to beat some teams that we haven't beaten very often in the last ten years. If we lose to Bama, LSU, Ark, and either UT or Auburn... the Liberty Bowl is probably about right, even with an 8-4 record. Not to mention the fact that we pretty much need to be at least 2 games ahead of any SEC team not named OM, UK, or Vandy in order to get a decent bowl bid.
