Would paying 2 million on Yeskie be a total blunder? Sounds far fetched, but Obviously has no SEC Head Coaching experience (Minus associate HC), but the guy was under Casey for their runs. He could easily run a program/recruit (and evaluate if the past shows anything). Coaches on a team he could easily run. Dude has some fire under him, and he may want to see if he can run an (Elite, dare I say) program in the SEC. Or, let’s go get …… (Pick a coach) ??? I’m all about someone bringing this program back to prominence … just food for thought. Who could come in Day #1 and flip this team?

Think the highest paid coach in the country is Corbin. Believe he is at 2.5 mil and if he meets all his incentives, would be right at 3 mil. He ain't leaving Vandy for any other job. He'll retire there.

Between the House bill that’s coming due to all major athletic departments and our AD’s lack of connections outside of a 10 mile radius around Norman, OK, I’d expect to hire the #5 coach from the MEAC or something over a name name. That’s if he makes the firing in the first place.

Bring back Gary Henderson. Should have never let him go.

Go after the top assistants in the league and I imgaine you can pay them a good bit less than $1M per year, initially.

I simply cannot fathom that anyone associated with this university is willing to allow the guy who hired Jeff Lebby to be involved in the process of replacing this failed coaching staff.
I mean, he already has the entire Oklahoma baseball coaching staff in his contacts on his phone. Most efficient AD in the SEC!

I still think it’s 50-50 at best that Lemonis is fired. Selmon doesn’t care. He’ll only fire him if he’s forced to. And even if he is, we’ll see a lazy mediocre hire. But hey, have you seen our stadium? Lot of great grilling shots on last nights tv.

So should the next AD. Honestly... does it take mega millions to employ competent people?

I've about decided college athletics is one big con game. The people doing the hiring don't want to pay somebody less because they, themselves might get paid less.
I mean they conned the fans into buying the tickets AND paying the players salary. How insane is that?

First we had the unimaginative spend thrift. Then we had The Ninja but alas he wasn’t for long. Then along came Loafers. Next came The Destroyer of Programs. Finally we have ………………?

I actually don’t have much doubt that we will be able to make a decent hire. After all, we are about to be one of only 30-35 college baseball programs that has any relevance at all. There are a lot more than 30-35 good college baseball coaches, so simple math says we should be able to lock one down. But that’s only the beginning of our problems. NIL remains the much bigger problem.

Unfortunately, we’re now a program where hosting maybe once or twice a decade is going to be the ceiling….even with a good coach (who will still be hated by 50% of the fanbase by Year 4, no matter what). Hell, we only hosted 4 times in the “Golden Era” of 2011-2021….when we had infinitely more advantages than we do now. Every other 10 year stretch besides that since 1999 with the current format, it’s been 1-3 times max.

It’s been said before, but our baseball program just isn’t what people think it is.
