Set on fire at night in the wee hours. Listening to his podcast it does appears that it was a criminal act but he does not seem to believe he was personally targeted.

Thoughts?

An unemployed and drunk Hugh Freeze finally snapped and went after Rosebowl. That crazy bastard might have found a way to survive in Oxford had it not been for Steve.

Most of the time these kinds of situations arise from a problem with friction. Most typically it occurs when insurance papers start rubbing up against the pages of a promissory note.
He said it was an older vehicle his kids drove in college that had not been used for a while and had been dropped from insurance. For that reason, not a lot of angst about the loss of the car but just the fact that someone would deliberately enter his property and torch a car in the middle of the night.

On a completely unrelated note, a large amount of copper was stollen from a home build down the street on the same night...probably.

“appears” to be a criminal act .

does that mean it could have been a squirrel that caused an electrical short?

arson is super serious with mandatory minimums and automatic loss of rights. Why would somebody risk everything for a random attack. Doesn’t make sense. Pull the cameras. Need more info

Half the vehicles I’ve owned have had recalls for fire related stuff, and it’s usually something that can catch on fire in a garage while parked.

He said the battery was dead, so electrical short isn't likely. I suppose too dead to start might not be equal to too dead to start a fire.

I have given Rosebowl a hard time based on how his hair looks, but I'll give him a ton of credit for this post. He's got the right attitude and response to the idiot who set the fire.
I am not a fan of Rosebowl and honestly have some hate towards him, but his post was good. Also, I had a chance to meet him at an event once and he was sharing his story. Guy had a complete life change. Good for him.

it’s unfortunate that happened but I’m curious what makes RoseBowl believe it was intentional and not just an accident.

It seems foolish to just assume maliciousness.

He stated somewhere in the comments that another car on his street was also torched that night. Not pointing at you at all, but I’m continually amazed at the hate for him by our fanbase. Do I agree with him all the time? No. Is he sometimes controversial? Yes. But good grief. I would assume his assertion it was arson was based upon the SFD’s fire investigation. I took from his post that he knows it was arson but doesn’t believe he was specifically targeted since there was more than one burned vehicle. I thought his perspective was pretty mature.

I’m with you — not really a fan of his look representing the university, but I’m sure he wouldn’t be a fan of mine either. That said, I respect anyone who turns their life around the way he did. Most people never make that decision. He then built a career out of his passion, and I admire that.

I think the situation is that when someone with a cringy look (stingray/rosebowl) is associated with your team, they are a bad representation of the fanbase.

Do you want folks to think of this guy when they think of State?

He said on his podcast that first responders stated it looked like an accelerant was used but then simple logic would tell you that the likelihood a vehicle that has been sitting idle for months with a dead battery just spontaneously bursting into flames is next to impossible. Any other accidental ignition source such as a grass fire or burning nearby would be obvious and there was none. Based on that alone it is completely reasonable to conclude that the car was torched on purpose and thereby maliciously.

He does not represent the university. He is an independent sports writer.

Post your picture real quick. We need to make sure you have the right look before you go around telling people you’re a Mississippi State fan.
